Oh my poor, sweet, innocent summer child.
What happened was that the RFL convinced themselves, and many RL fans, that it was a demand-side problem and that their protectionist measure would mean that the significant amount of homegrown talent that they believed was going to waste would fill the void.
Actually, as the 2008 and Crusaders exemptions unwound (and a good number of our players started to give the NRL or even the Queensland Cup a shot) clubs discovered that they were just paying more for the same British players, and it was really mainly a supply-side problem, the untapped reserves of talent mainly a myth.
That is why it seems the non-fed limit is going up to 7.
But we do need to do better if we're to progress, in terms of vacuuming up more of the available young talent from the shallow pool, ahead of our competitors, and in developing it. And if we do better we'll have more chance of retaining our best products.

FFS, can you read? I think His Bobness has explained this situation very well and in relatively simple terms that most should be able to understand. We have signed the best players we were able to attract. Also we have approximately of 13 players in our first team squad next season who were born in Hull. I wonder how many other SL clubs can match that figure?

| Quote ="His Bobness"Poore is on a very good deal at Rovers of course he is, matching his wages at Wakefield which they couldn't afford.
But a transfer fee of nothing is definitely cheap compared to Taylor £100k and Amor £50k. Poore is on a 2 year deal so it's almost like year one is free'.'"
You made more than one point and it was the cheap assumption that was interesting if looked into further as I think it can be misleading...
I agree Taylor no doubt would be on a big contract aswell as large signing on fee and wants to be at a top 5 club as does Amor as rugby careers are so short. Hull KR aren't top 5 at the moment.
Poore was possibly on 100k per year at Wakefield whereas Amor was closer to 60k per year as an estimate.
If we take these figures for a 2 year contract Poore would cost a club about 200k over the 2 years with no signing fee whereas Amor would be 120k for the 2 year contract and 50k signing on fee which leaves a total cost of 170k, 30k cheaper than Poore.
Don't assume Poore is on a cheaper total deal than Amor and other contract issues haven't also been equated such as paid flights to/from Aus, relocation costs etc...

I think Amors stock has risen a lot from when he signed for you to when he left you he will be on a lot more than 60 grand now I think

| regarding our lack of local youngsters, we're still a long way off the top side's when it comes to producing them, but where still many years behind the top sides in terms of how long there youth structures have been in place. hopefully we'll keep making improvements and see more top youngsters coming through soon enough.

| Im not worried too much by the amount of home grown talent we have in our side, it will come soon enough in a few years but at the minute were doing well to have roughly 8 UK players in the 13. If we break any RL rules then people can whinge but at the minute FC fans are just annoyed because they are signing Ryan McGoldrick and need to deflect their grievances our way!!

We've probably got a lot of overseas fans as well but that's something you won't have to worry about.

He won't be on a suspected 135k a year contract like Poore so makes Amor the cheaper option, that's 270k on a 2 year contract that you've signed up, think WTW were desperate to get him off the wage bill so that was a big 135k saving for Trinity when a few hundred grand in debt.
Amor hasn't played at NRL/ State of Origin standard either unlike Poore year in year out which impacts on value. Both very good super league props though and that is without question.

| I think he'll be on at least £250k a year just because he split Lincs swede open, but I don't actually have access to the players wages, it's just a guess.

I dont care if our players come from Preston road or Perth , Australia.
I want to see Hull KR put its best possible team on the pitch.
The passport is irrelevant.

| It was like The League Of Gentlemen when Papa Lazarou's Pandemonium Carnival turned up that time with the fire eaters, people dressed as trolls and them fighting with Rufus on the pitch after the second half had got under way.
They were ace them, wish they'd come back.

It's the quantity and quality of some of em innit.
The whole point is to create a larger pool of English talent in Superleague, which will in time benefit the national team, whilst also ensuring clubs invest in their youth structures rather than putting money into the pockets of jokers. Jokers like Larroyer, Maki, Paniu & Costigan is what I'm talking about - are they really necessary? They're cack.
Every year Rovers get a hammering due to their foreign legion, the " we've only been in SL x years, give us time" excuse getting trotted out in response. 8th season coming up.
