Well that just topped off a s#@t week, trust Rovers to fail me when I needed them. The performance highlighted a few ongoing problems for me. JM may have done a great job for us, but, despite being a prop himself, he has repaeatedly failed over the years to get some beef in our pack. We get out-muscled on a fairly regular basis, and not just against top class packs.

Murrell wants sacking off after his pathetic defensive efforts on the line. Apart from being self-appointed cheerleader when the opposition knock on (I mean, what's the point?), what is his function in the 17 these days?

Both Hull and Rovers have an incredibly small chance to become Champions. Too small to be a concern in fact. And there's only one team from the lower half of the table involved. Given that the difference between 7th and 8th place is one whole point it's arguable if that's worth worrying about either.

Finishing top gives you the opportunity to pick who you play in week 3. That seems to be a significant advantage to me.

The team in 4th place gets two shots at getting through. The team in 5th doesn't. Another significant advantage IMO.

A top 6 playoff wouldn't work in a 14 team league. If you want to go back to the top 6 we'll have to go back to a 12 team league - no bad thing IMO.

Catalans plan,according to Robinson was to come out strong not like the earlier league fixture where they were playing catch-up - the plan worked and most things did 'come off' but it was a great atmosphere and intimidating for any visiting side especially when you only have a few dozen away fans to cheer you on (they did their best !)
Catalans were awesome but looked vunerable on their left but hung on and eventually took control

thought Latus did ok along with Vella - the rest looked ordinary IMO

Pelissier was superb but a great team performance with 'luck' having very little to do with it

when the HKR team arrived they walked in front of me to the stadium and they all looked,with the exception of Vella,terrified - their body language was bad,there was no way Catalans were going to lose that game...

Catalan wouldn't/wont beat Saints, not when they're playing like that.

on that form Les Cats could compete with anyone IMHO

Just got back from the trip and yes I was gutted about the result and the performance but am I still glad I went? Ofcourse I am. Some nice gestures by the team at the end of the game aswell which was nice to see

I've noticed a number of times that you can tell which Rovers team will turn up by watching the warm up. I noticed on the clips pregame they never looked ready or up for it at that point and I feared the worst. Whether it was the long run of must win games took its toll, we eased off once getting into the play offs or they're just not good enough I don;t know either way it was predictable.

Rovers got into the top 8 and I feel they were happy to just do that they looked tired and not interested, wonder how webbo and cox is cox took a big hit.

Didn't matter what rovers team turned up on saturday, you don't have the players with teh physical presence to comepet with catalans when they are playing well. Likewise Hull at leeds (Who didn't even need to play particularly well)

Agreed, however lets not kid ourselves that Rovers shortcomings are in any way related to Hull's. Ours is a pack size issue and poor defensive coaching. Based on my limited viewing's, yours is one of a total lack of creativity when in strong field position. You need half backs more than Agar needs a personality.

it was quite uncanny, JM came past first and looked as if he'd just lost his wallet and the players trooped wearily behind looking as though they were going to the electric chair ! as I said Michael Vella was the only one to look relaxed and chatted away without any problem - big Clint looked the worst ! I've heard of pre-match nerves but that was a bit OTT...

The Catalan players turned up in groups of two or three at a time and looked great,chatting with the fans and joking between themselves - a complete contrast from HKR

at the end all the HKR players were great,chatting to the fans and signing autographs etc - it's as though a great weight had been lifted from their shoulders.....

The only other team I have seen this season with the same look as the HKR players was Leeds - they looked really uncomfortable and also ended up losing as it happens
