I'm with you Stan. He might be one of yours but he's a rugby player and I would hate to see any player having to give up the game through injury/illness. Hope he gets sorted out and pulls on the red and white again.

He shows what a real class player in that position can bring to a team, probably the best we've had in the centres while in SL.

Hopefully Goulding will be back for us ......Either way, he has being a valuable asset for us because his presence has taught Welham and Salter how to be an actual centre .....They are now actually looking to put their wingman away like every good centre should do! ......Hopefully this lengthy rest will give Darrell the time to recuperate and he can then come back and do what he does best, which is being a fantastic savvy centre.

Jake Webster never retired and played on average 20 games per season for us. Chev Walker had 1 horrific season and by that time wasn't event playing Centre as Kris Welham had taken his spot.

Think maybe he's alluding to the fact that it may be a bit of a jinxed position where injuries are concerned.

Jake Webster when fit looked class, trouble was he was made of biscuit and never went a game where he din't either get injured or looked down and out only to get up like lazarus.

Walker was never really a centre for us and wasn't great when he was, Gleeson? did he ever play for us?

I liked the look of Goulding in the games he's played, easily the best centre, I don't know but certainly looks a good prospect and hopefully he can get himself back to fitness.

After the initial rumours regarding Darrell I am hoping no news is good news.iif he was having to retire from the game.why would the player or club not release the news.
Mick Weyman informed everyone soon after his decision to retire was made.

This news is dreadful. 27 is no age for someone of his class and ability to retire. He has made absolutely the right decision and I hope he makes a successful next career move. Enjoyed watching him set up Ken Sio for at least 4 tries early doors.

Not only have we been unlucky with injuries this year, but 2 enforced and premature retirements to our starting 13 is a real choker. We are really due some better fortune on this front.

Awful news, really feel for him and other players that have to leave the sport early. Although he only played 8 or so games for us, I thought he was a great addition and made a real difference. A massive loss for the club, but more importantly he has to think of himself and his family.

Sadly, he never got the chance to show his best for us, but his talent was obvious. He was a very good provider for his wingers and vastly underrated.

Really sad news he could of gone on to be our right edge centre for the next 5 years, no coincidence charnley finished top scorer in the league playing outside of him and up until Darrell came out of our side sio was joint top scorer, wish him all the best in what ever he does in the future

Was really pleased when we signed Darrell. Thought we'd stolen one of the best centres in the comp. Old-school centre who wingers dream of playing outside. Charnley got 40 tries one season and Goulding gave every assist in the book. Can't coach kids the skills he had.

Spot on summary BF. Listening to his interview today on Hull KR TV he seems to have developed a real affinity with the club in such a short time. I expect he will reappear in some capacity for us in the coming years on the coaching / player development staff with one of those fancy new job titles they use nowadays.

A real shame for both club and player. I've always rated him and was really looking forward to seeing him develop into one of the best centres I've seen at Rovers, I rated him that highly really! Not far off international quality.

Daz made so many of Josh Charnley's tries by being able to get the ball out in heavy traffic. He was still doing it for Sio at your place earlier this season.

It isn't true that Wigan didn't want him. He chose to go to Hull KR after getting a really good deal. In a salary capped sport Wigan weren't able to pay him his true worth. I think it would have been a good move for Hull KR and for Daz but for injury.

I will remember him for his Grand Final tries against Saints and Wire and his retirement is a timely reminder of what these guys go through for our entertainment.

Gutted for him and gutted for us.
