| Quote ="nick hkr"Cockayne states his favourite position is on the wing. Morgan doesn't like playing him at full back because he doesnt fit into his game plans there (not that his game plans actually work these days!).
Morgan has proven he will give kids a chance, Taylor, Welham, Hodgson...etc he gave Charnley his chance here, this shows he has no worries about putting a kid in if he feels they are ready, if Sheriffe isn't ready then I wouldn't expect him to be risked in such a pivitol position at SL level. Try him against York gladly but I'll happily wait for him to come through steadily and at a pace which suits everyone.
For me Kyle Eastmond was a fantastic full back who is out of favour getting boo's from his own supporters. Sure he is off to Union but he could come on loan for a month or two to cover Briscoes injury and I'll bet by the end of his loan spell he'd be catching Welham for top try scorer! Surely Saints would be looking to offload him for a month or so while the dust settles?'"
And just how much effort would you expect from Eastmond Nick.
Not for me thanks.

If Ben doesn't fit into Morgans gameplan as a full-back then i suggest he alters his gameplan because he certainly is NOT a winger. Nor is he a prop/second row/loose forward. His best position is without doubt full-back and he should be an automatic replacement for Briscoe.
As for the youngsters thing, Scott Taylor is being played out of position (just like Mariano was) as is Welham (should be right centre) and Hodgson should be an automatic choice anyways after the grounding he got at Hull.
Also why do Rovers have a left winger who carries the ball in his right hand and a right winger who carries the ball in his left hand?? Makes about as much sense as Latus being interchange second row!!
Lots wrong with Hull KR at the moment both on and off the field. An interesting few weeks lie ahead me thinks. Oh, and i wouldn't go anywhere near Eastmond.

But we have a good replacement in Ben Cockayne. Cockayne is not everyone's cup of tea but full back is actually his best position, the position we signed him for.

| I know some people will see this the wrong way but as far as a fullback is concerned I think the loss of Briscoe will make no difference to our team. Briscoe has had a hand full of good games since we signed him. I like the kid as a person and hope he gets well soon but his loss is not as bigger impact as we think. He has missed more one on one tackles than any other player in our squad this season, he is slow and very iffy under a high ball. He has lost his attacking flair. Cockayne for me every time over Briscoe. Still a nice kid all the same.

Your post is certainly that. He has had ONE good season at Rovers. A year and a half later he is yet to have a MOTM performance or come even close to one. He drops more high balls than I've seen him and his positioning is questionable. His attack is the worst full back play in the league and we saw once Welham went there we had more flair in attack than we've had for 18mths.
As nice as Briscoe is as a person he is not the player we need there.
How much effort would we get from Eastmond? Well considering he has just got back from injury, has come in to a side playing under new game plans from a new coach and gets boo'd everytime he gets the ball at Saints I think he'd put in plenty for a club where he'd have the support of fans, coach and team mates alike. Why is it fantasy land? Surely Saints would be fine with it not like we are any danger to their place in the league are we!! And after a month of getting his confidence back maybe they'll be in a position where they need him back to cover injuries in their squad.

I disagree and in any case, this is still more than the 'handful of games' that pugwash had suggested, I didn't question him losing his attacking flair so get off your high horse on that one.
My main point was that Briscoe has not missed more one on one tackles than anyone else in the team, infact he's made a few great tackle's this season with 2 attackers running at him which has then been wasted when the ball gets played and goes out wide. What's Eastmond got to do with anything?

| Read the thread with reguards the Eastmond part of my post.
He has made more one on one misses than great tackles this season. He is at this moment in time the worst FB in the league for both attack and defence. I bet we will play better without him.

| When Briscoe was out injured for a few weeks last season Cockayne reverted to full back and did well, probably better than Briscoe did actually. I think the problem is Cockaynes versatility and Briscoes lack of it means if Briscoe is fit he plays fullback.
It may take Cockayne a game or two to get the positional play back but it immediately improves our attacking threat.

Confidence is all to Hall. 40 mins at fullback will ruin him for half a season. Trust us, we know.
Briscoe? He never wanted to leave Hull. Pesky agents.

Is Hall's confidence like an illness and contagious? Because I feel Fox has got it bad right now.
Brisc - for me ever since he hurt his groan/thigh a while back he just hasn't been the same. Real shame - but Cockayne will get his chance now and we'll see if he's a better option after all.

| Normally I'd say that we'll ship more tries with Charlie as the last line of defence as Brisc's reading of the game and positional sense is better. However over the last season I don't think Brisc has been his usual reliable self so those arguments no longer apply and he gives us nothing in attack.

Not the answer, Ben is not a good fullback IMO, he is perfect for a utility player.
Give Sheriff a go, we MUST start to blood the youngsters soon. If the rumours are true about Briscoe going to Widnes, Galea and Vella leaving then it time we got the likes of Sheriff, Taylor, Cox etc in the 17 to get them ready for 2012 as bringing in replavcement overseas players is not the answer.

| Is Sheriffe ready though?
It's a tough ask just to throw Sheriff in, when we do have someone like Ben to fill the hole. I'd be up for seeing how he does but if we're looking @ Brisc been out for quite a while, suddenly been thrust into the demands of SL week in week out, could have a detrimental effect.
Anyway I think we all know Morgan will probably opt for the tried and trusted option. (When Brisc was last injured I thought Ben looked a lot more assured tbh)
I think the only way we might see some of these youngsters is if this season peters out and we've just lost too much ground on the play offs. Otherwise I can't see them getting the chance over snr players in the run in.

Christ knows, it was bad enough that it was happening and noted before but absolutely criminal at this level that it's still going on now. I mean, you'd get a complete and thoroughly deserved b0llocking off your coach at under eights level never mind at this.

When you consider how analytical Morgan is and take into account his legendary video review sessions it is a bit strange that something as fundamental as this is overlooked. Especially in view of a particular tackle we were on the receiving end of last season and the end result.

| Fox is playing on the wrong wing and has been for almost 2 years. Before the change of wing he was regularly scoring, now he's going from bad to worse.
If the England manager wants to pick him for right wing fine, but his best position for Rovers is on the left!

| If you look back over the last few years, signing young, talented fast backs hasn't been KR's strength has it? Other than Latus (who is NOT a back).....? Forwards seem to be Morgan's speciality ATM.
