For the avoidance of doubt, Roverswall, this is not a bitchathon. Just a polite enquiry about Saints HBs. My assessment above of the relative merits of both teams is sensible, balanced and non-inflammatory. Thanks.

We all know saints will beat us in the forwards battle so think that bout sums up how the game will go

You're assessment ignores form. I look at our squad on paper, even with Dobson, Newton and Vella missing, and it looks good, I'm happy with those players as individuals and the overall balance. Unfortunately they aren't clicking. They're not even clunking. It's a sort of pfft-schlup sound.

Is that the noise that Ivor the Engine made? Saints are in better form, that's true. Rovers looked closer to clicking last week than they allegedly did the one before. Maybe that's a trend.

You are clearly either forgeting or just ignoring that most if not all saints fans state that Lomax is the way forward for them in the halves and having seen it myself I can't say they are wrong.
They have Eastmond and Lomax available last time I checked.

I actually get confused by their dizzying array of youngsters. Just looked at their squad to get my bearings - All-Star 1st team and then loads of talented 'kids'.

I love Saints. Vastly entertaining rugby, get an injury and just promote a youngster in the correct position, with an array of old hands to protect them. Great stuff.

Kyle will not be playing in the first team this Friday. That's been confirmed by Saints. He will be playing in the u20s where, it would appear, he is playing as poorly as he played in the first team. So he shouldn't really trouble your u20s.

Lee Gaskell and Jonny Lomax will be our halfback partnership again, as they were against Leeds and against Bradford. Our injuries presently include (but are not exclusive to): Wilkin, Meli, Pryce and Clough.

I'm not really sure what your point is. I've already said Saints have the better pack on paper and the game is won in the forwards generally. Your HB combination sees your first choice 6 and a very experienced LF/SO whereas Saints are fielding neither of Pryce or Eastmond. It's a big call to say Gaskell is a better player than Murrell IMO. Back lines look reasonably well matched but Saints on balance are favourites in what should be a good game. No need to get huffy and use capitals. I think I've been pretty balanced tbh.

Cant see us getting close tonight, seem to have better players in most departments. May be still in the mix by half time but fear another crushing defeat by final hooter. It will probably be a similar story to previous games.
My prediction 42 - 18 to Saints.

A win would be fantastic but all im looking for is effort. As the great Bill Shankley used to say to each and every player he picked to play " Justify your inclusion".
