Enthusiasm and popularity don't strike me as strong reasons to accommodate/shoehorn-in Cockayne. I'd say he's a wing who can also do a decent job at fullback. In an emergency he could fill in at centre, as he has done in the past - but it really shouldn't plan A, IMO. At the moment I think it is any 3 from 4 for the fb and wing spots, depending on form and fitness. He's good enough to earn a place on playing merit, but not so good that dropping/resting him should be seen as any sort of taboo.

I think cockayne is a good squad player and can cover a few positions but I think we have better options in the starting 17 now

When I was a lad their was plenty of star hookers that would only give you 10 mins. they were all down Hessle Road

On Hull KR TV Mick Weyman's 'Dream Team' (best players he has played alongside) includes Ben Cockayne at full back.

His role in organising the defence seems to go unnoticed and for me the only time we looked a cohesive defensive unit was with him at the back. He also made a number of last ditch try saving tackles and as always was never less than wholly enthusiastic with his kick returns.

I'd go with him in the No. 1 shirt, Dixon would be a bit of a risk and we need the finishing skills of Sio & Mantellato out wide. There are a few options, I'm sure Chester will look at them all in pre-season.

With regards to Aaron Ollet wasn't his original position in the under 19 squad a hooker or am I getting him mistaken with another player

Aaron Ollet is a 2nd Rower, Struggled towards the end of the year with injury but should be raring to go with a good pre season under his belt.

This is how I would go so far I think. We look very hooker heavy (despite not signing a first choice one...yet) and the abundance of back rowers makes me think Cox will be used as a prop. I think Welham will start as our left centre.

I'd be really disappointed if Hallet isn't given a good go this year. he looks like he could make the step up if managed correctly and Welham seems to have lost the edge he once had.

I actually think Welham will be last in line for a spot in the centre, Salter will be in front of him but not sure if Chester sees Hallett as a winger/centre.

What makes you think that about Hallett?

Well I thought he played centre for the youth teams but managed to get his first team games on the wing. So not sure how Chester sees where he fits in.

I think a number of young centres are put out on the wing when first introduced to the first team. They are less exposed as they adjust to the faster game. It seems to happen in the NRL as well.

Think Guzdek will get a chance at some stage but with only 1 Super League game behind him and none at all in 2014 it is inconceivable that he would start as our first choice full back. I really don't think there is any chance of that happening at all especially with several other options available.

I think he has a great chance of making it as a Super League player but it's only potential at this stage, really he has no experience yet of playing against men. Looking good playing against kids at U19 level is light years away from doing the same against hardened pros in the top level of the game. Yes he should get a chance and hopefully he'll get 5 or 6 games in 2015 and prove his worth then maybe he could be considered for a regular spot. Right now he won't even be one of the 25 names Rovers forward as the first team squad, he'll be part of the second tier cap. But that's how everyone starts, you don't get a shirt numbered between 1 and 17 until you've something more than potential to back it up.

Salter instead of Welham, surely. He will learn from Goulding.

There's certainly a bit more depth to the squad than the last few seasons. More so than usual though, our season will need a bit of luck with injuries if we are to realise the potential.

Not forgetting Matty Marsh and Sonny Esslement who both forced their way into 19 man squads at the back end of 2014. Plus Steve Holker. Some really exciting young local talent to be mentored and mixed in with the established NRL performers that we have brought into the club.

Only one academy product in that 17, disgusting.
