I agree that next year could very much well be the same story as this year for you all, as you say not enough of the average players moved on and more worryingly most of your main strike players are leaving and are being replaced with players that are not at the same level barring Hodgson who is probably on a par with Fox.

Your probably going to make 2-3 more signings, these signings have to be top level players otherwise the top 8 will be very difficult next year for your new coach.

How? Rovers won the equivalent fixture just 2 weeks ago, and on Friday night we had an even more one-sided game between 1st and 4th. I really don't think you can read anything into it - we've had a fair number of blow-out scores all season.

The top 8 system rewards mediocrity. Aside from the possibility (albeit slim) of a team from the bottom half of the table winning the competition there is no real advantage in finishing 1st rather than 2nd. You could also argue that there is a benefit in finishing 5th over 4th.

Well that just topped off a s#@t week, trust Rovers to fail me when I needed them. The performance highlighted a few ongoing problems for me. JM may have done a great job for us, but, despite being a prop himself, he has repaeatedly failed over the years to get some beef in our pack. We get out-muscled on a fairly regular basis, and not just against top class packs.

Both Hull and Rovers have an incredibly small chance to become Champions. Too small to be a concern in fact. And there's only one team from the lower half of the table involved. Given that the difference between 7th and 8th place is one whole point it's arguable if that's worth worrying about either.

Finishing top gives you the opportunity to pick who you play in week 3. That seems to be a significant advantage to me.

The team in 4th place gets two shots at getting through. The team in 5th doesn't. Another significant advantage IMO.

A top 6 playoff wouldn't work in a 14 team league. If you want to go back to the top 6 we'll have to go back to a 12 team league - no bad thing IMO.

Catalans plan,according to Robinson was to come out strong not like the earlier league fixture where they were playing catch-up - the plan worked and most things did 'come off' but it was a great atmosphere and intimidating for any visiting side especially when you only have a few dozen away fans to cheer you on (they did their best !)
Catalans were awesome but looked vunerable on their left but hung on and eventually took control

thought Latus did ok along with Vella - the rest looked ordinary IMO

Pelissier was superb but a great team performance with 'luck' having very little to do with it

when the HKR team arrived they walked in front of me to the stadium and they all looked,with the exception of Vella,terrified - their body language was bad,there was no way Catalans were going to lose that game...
