Accept the point about any of the companies going bust and leaving the council to pay the debts but will they not be insured against such losses?

Also the extension will create jobs at the stadium. Although a drop in the ocean of the unemployment numbers it is still going to need building by brick layers, electricians, plumbers, scaffolders, plasterers, decorators, roofers. Then it will need cleaning, security let alone filling with office staff of which it has space for 40. The stand currently on this land will also need moving, again a job that needs paying for and will help other companies.

So taking away from just the PLC's occupying the stand, it being there alone will create approx 50 jobs long term and possibly 100's of jobs during the building stages.

Blinkered people just turn around and say "oh they are cutting the OPE and the IRE funding but giving £4m to Rovers." Anyone with just a few brain cells will see the bigger picture and know this is a loan that HKR have to pay the majority of back to the local council who in turn will pay back to the central fund. If we falter then I guess the council have grounds to set up a CCJ and possibly place us into Administration again, once this happens our SL licence is at great risk something I know the club can ill afford to do knowing that being put back in the Championship will be as good as losing a professional sports team from the city.

My guess is that whichever company actually builds the stand will already be employing such people either directly or as sub contractors, so i doubt it would herald that much 'new' employment.

Like I said in a previous post and you have mentioned previously lets hope they use local contractors but look what happened with the floods, out of town contractors were used.

I would imagine P&D will be looked at favourably.

That happens in most contractual work. As for the floods there were never enough builders/plumbers/sparkys etc in Hull to cope with that demand.

I now understand why HKR didn't come out shouting from the rooftops that we had this funding in place.
It seems we technically are a little nearer to getting the new North in place as if we dont get this last grant its still a none starter.
I also appriciate the clubs position and accept they have had to play it down a tad as many folks myself included though it was a done deal.
I wont pretend im not a tad disappointed and a little frustrated but its still progress none the less.

Hull Fans could sit in the new North Stand for the Derby eating a Bratwurst, everyones a winner

Often over seas signings are contracted to do community work as part of their role.

If we get Big Willie to do some fund raising for the bratwurst boys then the EU can free up the remaining money for the North stand, we could even name it "The Big Willie Sausage Stand".

Premier Inn on Hedon Road used the Chinese modular building firm instead of using many companies in Hull who have subsiquently gone out of business putting people such as myself onto the bread line.

Just because these people are already employed a local firm may need to rely on local building projects to keep staff employed or even expand their business on the back of building such a development.

Saying this we all want the best job possible and it has to come on or under budget so it may in fact be out of the clubs hands anyway. As stated by Hull White Star the flood damage caused to many homes were repaired (eventually) by out of towners. East Hull Red seriously there may not have been "enough" but that doesnt mean A LOT had to be overlooked!

Going on that article you linked to, I would be very surprised if your new North stand is anywhere near to being built or open by the start of 2012 season. Has work even started yet on the extension to your East stand?
