I posted a link to the Daily Telegraph (no less) referencing Orford's £850k 3 year deal and Mild Rover ridiculed my source. I'm not prepared to endure that again.

Can't argue with that, but IMO with his best days probably behind him he's just not worth the hassle:

Huge wages
Big ego (allegedly)
Possible disruption to the team spirit
Poor disciplinary record (from what I've heard)

To me he just seems to bring a lot of baggage. Will be happier if we don't sign him then if do to be honest.

Correct. If you're in a bidding war with Leeds you'll probably will be forced upwards. Still, with Finch, Lima and now even Radford knocking you back, you're [ioverdue[/i some success in the recruitment market, even if the protracted haggling over Mason takes up 11% of your total players budget.

It was when he fell out with the bulldogs but still had a year on his contract.

A couple of reasons really, his contract was a reported $400k, the contract he got off scr was reportedly the same and he didn't want to give up rep footy.

I understand why you're nervous - but c'mon let's live on the edge a bit. Past his best or not, he'd strengthen our pack.

I don't like that he punched Fielden. The careers advice he gave to SBW wasn't brilliant. The weeing in the street - I've done that when in dire need (small bladder

). Always avoided my shoes though. Ego, attitude etc - I'd judge him when he arrived. Visa permitting, coming across for pre-season like O'Meley did for Hull, would be a positive sign. Hope he brings some thermals.
