As I said I was playing purely devils advocate by pointing out those statements and sentiments although adopted by racists are not in themselves racist and merely a comment of anti extremism and calls for control of immigration. I could quite happily support those sentiments and not be deemed racist in any way.

There is a view that there is in fact a middle ground where racism is concerned, its one that is probably ingrained in society and will take an very long time to erradicate. This view is one that eans a person holds view of difference without holding a view of inferiority. they can have friends of all races, wish no harm to other people of differing races yet when the chips are down they still use race as a differentiator whether conciously or subconciously. It comes from years of ingrained latent learning. I'm 42 and my granparents used racist language, that was how they were brought up. My parents don't tend to but deep down they'll have ingrained views that were told to them as a child. I would love to believe that I view all people equally and I think I do but in my sub concious I still notice someone of a different race even if I don;t discriminate, abuse or treat any differently. My kids will be even further down the line of not even noticing hopefully and eventually it will go. But there are different levels of racism. The other extremes being swastikas, burning crosses and the NF.

You are a few years younger than me and I can relate to your post, my Nanna once described my sofa as niger brown and my 2 children were left open mouthed! I agree it will take society a long time to educate, hence why I feel it is important that examples are made and set when and where it is appropriate, especially in the public arena like sport.
Personally it is different for me I never actually notice skin colour, though this maybe as my best friend for the past 30 odd years is black, plus I have worked with ethnic minorities and shared their tears and heartbreak at the racist behaviour displayed against them when all they want to do is just get on with their lives like the rest of us....I would like to have seen your club insist that Ben did some voluntary work with ethnic groups, mind you not sure he would have been welcomed with open arms like.

I don't know of one person who doesn't want a hardline approach to extremism, this perhaps wasn't a wise move to join this group, but it doesn't make him a racist.
Again, I don't know of anybody who would prefer a job in Britain to go to a foreigner rather than a Brit.
Finally, a group that implies a reduction in the amount of illegal immigrants coming to Britain also seems to express a fairly normal emotion.

Both appalled me tbh...Obviously seeing the attack angered me as I am sure it did most, I was appalled he used the forces for his defence and I believe his profession kept him out of jail..I am totally opposed to racism as I hope most people are, but what made it worse is the fact he is not a teenager and he clearly has not learnt or shown any respect to the people who stood by him. His actions imply he has no respect towards fellow human beings.
This is not about it being a KR player for me both Cockayne & Raynor should have been banned from the sport to send out a message that racism is not tolerated in our sport, the fact they were not makes a mockery of the Respect campaign and sends out the wrong message to youngsters within our society.

What Ben wrote doesn't automatically make him a racist apart from the statement you have just stated.
No matter how many times you post it that wont change.
My view is that it should be British jobs for British folks in the current climate I can see nothing wrong with that statement.
As for the other statement on its own that COULD be classed as an eye for an eye.
Neither of those statements in isolation are racist comments.

Just to be clear here I belive Ben should have been sacked, But for his comment above and his previous discretion.
His other views that are been thrown at him are not necessarily racist.

I can actually understand both sides of the arguement to be honest.
But the courts and players clubs can sort it for me and im just a fan who watches the 17 picked every week and dont get worked up enough to have an outspoken opinion either way.
Players always have and always will do things in their private lifes that subject them to these type of threads.
Aspinwall at Cas has been far from an angel recently and there have also been many instances of players caught drink driving which for me is one of the worse things a person can do.

If you call someone p*** c*** i think it generally means you have racist views, hence why i thought he should have been sacked. Not being prosecuted has nothing to do with it as im not sure its a criminal offence as such. Even if it is itss unlikely cost effective to pusue. Hes admitted it was him therefore its against the club/sport ethic.
