| A bit too early to say really but the performance was far better with a good defensive effort and players running on to the ball at least we did the basics right.
I'd much prefer somebody with experience and a proven track record but which way will Neil and Rob go?

| Chester got the job on the back of 1 good game v St Helens, let's not rush into the same mistake again.
We are already destined for the middle 8's so let's plan a bit longer term and get the right man.

| Willy has talked a good game to date, I like his emotion and his persona. I would be happy at this stage to keep him on a temp contract until the boards first choice becomes available / they make a decision. poching seems like a breath of fresh air after sandercocks constant excuses and Chester's dull drone of 'well we know we all must do better' I like a coach to wear his heart on his sleeve, and if he can get the lads to play like that, after the recent rubbish; he must be a step up even if only for a short period

| I'd see how he does over a few weeks as caretaker, then reassess.
Give him a real chance, but also leave options open.
I wouldn't preface the names of any of the other candidates being bandied about with 'we really can't afford to miss out on...', so IMO there's no rush.
My guess though is that they'll want 2017's coach confirmed and in place no later than June, whether it is Poching or somebody else.

| At the risk of being shot down in flames I don't like poaching and don't want him he should have gone with Chester IMHO . We cannot appoint another untried rookie coach and hopefully go with someone with experience

| Big Willy definitely needs to stay until we have appointed a new coach, which I reckon won't be him. We have been dire defensively during his time under Chester.
I know Willy is a huge fan of this forum and has huge respect for all the posters and contributors on here, as he clearly gets his cues and pointers for basic tactics and gameplan from us.
So first thing Monday and once you've read this Willy, please pick Sio at FB, Dixon on the wing and Minns at centre next week at Widnes. That will focus us in training. Ta.

| No no no and no again. We must learn from past mistakes. We need a head coach who has been there and done it at the highest level. If Poaching stays the 5 year plan will take ten. By that time we could be relegated

| If we appoint poching we'll just be in the same position this time next year Chester started with a big win over saints and we all know how that ended he should have gone with Chester

| Great to see big Willie get his first proper coaching job
Fan favourite at Leeds and one of the few who Tony Smith took with him when he joined Wire so clearly highly regarded in his eyes
Bit weird about Chester though... I thought he did quite well with them last year given their injuries in the halves

Who could we realistically get, who would inspire confidence? Especially in the short-term.
At worst, Poching in charge buys us time to see if different, better options emerge. And in that time he might surprise his doubters. Some coaches might be happy to be just a caretaker, but WP has ambitions to be a head coach. Asking him to hold the fort just until we find somebody else, then he's on his way doesn't look a great option from his POV. So unless somebody is lined up quickly, he's worth a try-before-you-buy. Better than rushing a a permanent appointment IMO - especially looking at the candidates people have suggested.

And I'm sure many of us hope Radford's losing 'run' is extended. The qualifying 8s would undoubtedly be enlivened by a Rovers-Hull Derby or two.

By your comment “he’s not good enough” am I to assume you have had the benefit of Willie’s coaching. If so can you enlighten me as to where he went wrong?

That was a very definite statement that he isn’t good enough and I wondered what you based your opinion on. A lot of Warrington supporters thought he was and were very disappointed when he left. Until he has been able to use his own methods at Rovers nobody will know and that includes his defensive structures.

| At the moment I'm thinking it's got to be experience. Brian Noble is an example of a name that always comes up at this point, but would a guy like him not be in touch enough in this era?

As our specialist defence coach he managed to have the second worst record in the league. Only Wakefield were worse.

| Early signs were good. You can't legislate for injuries or the kind of officiating that Bentham / Child inflicted upon us. Almost every aspect of our game was improved & we showed an energy not seen since the semi-final.
If we could produce several back to back performances like that I'd happily offer the job to Poching. Can't see it happening though.

| Looking at all these threads just makes me wonder how the hell we got into this mess.
I just can't believe we went into this season with a squad of 26 plus a 16 yo and an Aussie crock that we all knew wouldn't be ready for the start of the season, but getting sound bites from the club that they were hoping he'd be ready for the start of the season.
We hired new fitness coaches to get away from having an injury ravaged squad.......look how well that worked!
We hired Jamie Peacock to be this new messiah that would bring a new professionalism to our club and bring in better signings off the back of his name at least.....our recruitment was awful! Why he wasn't thrusted into the role right after the grand final I don't know, bringing him in on a full time role in December baffled me.
Then to top it all off, we have a pre-season training camp of fighting fires at Newcastle airport and (as noble as it was) helping the flood victims in Cumbria. Instead of looking at new combinations and defence training
We are now at the point were we are now looking at a new coach..... Jesus wept. A fans forum is needed to answer all questions about what the hell has been going on since September last year.
Wondering who is going to be our next coach is dependant on how we perform the next month, but this club is no further on since the Sandercock departure, it's a case of déjà vu. The season is four games in, but we are not good enough to make the top 8 even with most our team back. Now that is Chesters fault, and rightly has gone. But bigger balls was needed at the end of last year, but the board unfortunately ain't that ruthless.
This season is now in the bin, but let's have no quick fixes and rushed appointments, and let's get this right from now on.
