Heard this one today (another rumour????) Gareth Carvell is to replace Paea!!!!!!! Don't know if anyone else has heard this one.

Wouldn't be too disappointed if this turns out to be true. Always seems to take a bit of putting down whenever I've seen him play.

Too old, body failing, too dear. Not a good signing IMO.

Unless we are getting him for a bargain then NO, I would sooner take a punt on a championship forward who may make the grade than an expensive gamble who wont give us 40 min's a game. We do need an old head to go with the young forwards we have but they need to be able to give long stints on field Carvell wont give us that.

Be a excellent signing for any SL side for a year, but would be hesitant to offer him 2 years, still one of the best props in the league and has a recent good injury record.

Looking at the OOC. SL list their isn't much quality available.

Not saying he isn't a cracking player but for injuries he's more at risk than say a 25 year old

I like Carvell and wouldn't be against signing him if the deal was right for us. But I'd surprised if we’d get him, without putting fwd a better deal than quite a few other SL teams. The success of any such deal obviously would then be against how much game time we’d get from him versus wage. As we all know so well with O’Hara, age can catch up to you - despite having a good appearance record prior to signing. Then again, look at someone like Andy Lynch, more or less still going strong @ Hull, despite being well over 30 now (granted his inj record has been pretty consistent tho’).

Carvell for O’Hara wouldn’t be a bad outcome in real terms but he’d be no replacement for Paea though. Truth is, we will may have to sign up to 3 front rowers. CS’ signings to date by and large have been pretty good, so I’d like to think he’s got a few candidates in mind home/abroad.

Forwards are a fair bit easier to replace than say a half back and by and large SL has produced better props of late than aus. Can't remember to many 'big name' props who have come over and done that well.

I like paea and certainly this year he's been outstanding but I'd still like to see a prop with more minutes in him at Rovers. I was very critical early in the season of the short spells paea and Mika were doing.

Carvell is Bradford bound luckily for us.

Zane Tetevano - Kolpak (Cook Islands), came through the grades at Newcastle, second row, prop or lock - I mean loose forward. OOC.

Carvell wouldn't be a bad signing for you for a year, I think 2 would be pushing it unless it was on based appearances during his 1st year.

Was easily one of Wires better players when we beat them at HJ last month and seems to be having a good run of games at the mo.

Would do for me on his day still a good prop , depends on what he wants though.Would go well with Fakir from Catalan,ifwecan get them both for same cost or near enough Paea was wanting will do me good business willalsohelp bring on the kids
