| To lose to a team of the quality of Hudds is not unexceptable.
The manner of some of the tries conceded certainly was though.
1st Try - Lunt picks the ball up from Dummy Half and a gap opens up for him to coast through.
3rd Try - Patrick runs in from 40 metres swatting off defenders.
4th Try - Identical to the Interception conceded v Salford. Dobson needs to stop trying to put out a killer pass.
Tries 2 and 6 were Brett Hodgson at his best but we stood off him and allowed it to happen and Gilmour was in far too much space for Try 5 and had a simple job of sending D Hodgson in.

Might be short of form at the moment, but definately got the quality for SL - and then some - IMO.

| The thing that got me about the match yesterday (and our team as a whole) was how everyone was saying that we would beaten by the bigger pack, would have no go forward etc. I thought we were a reasonable match for them yesterday in the pack but did we struggle in the backs, we have no invention or options with ball in hand. I can't honestly remember any dummy runners at all and no one ran at an angle all day. Dobson seemed to be trying to run all sides of the park and making the decisions but not seeing to let anyone in on what he was doing.
Cooke was yet again frozen out of the plays with Dobbo almost getting under his feet at times. We look a far better team when dobbo controls one side and cooke the other, this gives the hooker more options and makes the defence think a bit.
We were out enthused, their kick chase was very impressive ours was non existent. There were times yesterday when after they'd kicked Webster and Wheeldon were still not back in the line on the 3rd tackle. For me thats just not good enough, maybe they were the better team but at least we should put the effort in.
All in all not acceptable and time for a rethink of the positional shuffles. Cooke back to 6, Webster back to centres and Murrells no Hooker.

| Rovers priority in the off season should have been to sign a hooker, if Morgan does not rate Fisher then it's his call but he is a better option than Murrell. I also don't think Hodgson is up for SL yet.

I don't think there is anything wrong with inventing a new word to describe yesterdays performance, I also think it was an "unexceptable" showing. Now lets hope we show some "Bouncebackibility" against Cas next week and put in a "Expectacceptable" performance...

| Well I believe we was dominated in the forwards, we struggled to make yards, struggled for a quick POTB all of which Hudds found pretty easily. A few people getting on the backs of our half backs but its very difficult to play behind a beaten pack!
We got into some good field positions during the game but once again came up with basic errors and a real lack of creativity. We are missing Galea big time in this area, we need another go to man who can create and open things up, we simply dont have options at the moment. Some of the passing was awful, by senior players aswell and it was real school boy stuff at times.
For me the Murrell at hooker aint working and doesn't look like it will, Webster at 6 also for me isn't working. I would like to see both put back into last seasons roles.
Big credit to Hudds, thought they were very good, scored plenty and defended soundly throughout the match, Nathan Brown is doing a fine job!
Well role on next week, hopefully with Galea back and Clinton getting some game time we can put this weeks shambles to the backs of our minds.

Its easy excuse to say the halves can't play behind a beaten pack, not that i thought Rovers pack was that overwhelmed in all honesty. Rovers had enough possession in good ball to have scored points yesterday but none of the creative players attacked their opponants shoulders enough for me. Dropping a prop off on the 4th tackle in good ball 5 and 6 metres from the defensive line wouldn't test an amateur league defence let alone one of the best drilled in SL yet it happened time and time again. People around me where saying 'why do we keep going inside when we have men over'. The inside pass can be a potent threat particularly against a sliding defence. But the attacking ball carrier has to commit the defenders outside shoulder else there is no hole to the runner to hit. Its no good Clint Newton charging onto an inside ball 6/7 meters from the defensive line with no defenders committed thats just food and drink to a team like Huddersfield and there are plenty of other examples too numerous to mention.
Slow PTB's have been a problem for Rovers for some time and it gives the impression that they are being dominated but imo it is more down to a lack of willingness to get off the floor first and an almost feeble acceptance that they can't get up first. If they start fighting to get up quicker they will more often than not either get up quicker or get a penalty, particularly at home where the crowd can get on the back of the ref. Only Fox and Briscoe show any real desire to get off the floor whether losing the collision or not and other players need to show the same desire. Yes its tiring and yes its stamina sapping, but quick PTB's are the name of the game and are pretty much the only way get a roll on.
Also Rovers kicking game is dreadful. Yesterday they were given a real lesson in kicking for field position and Huddersfields kick and chase was outstanding for pretty much the full 80.
They have now lost the last two games 62-6 where their only try was an off-the-cuff offload rather than anything structured. Its all very worrying for Rovers and i'm not sure they have the firepower to even challenge the top 8 this year in all honesty, let alone the top 4.

I agree, at times the negativity on the 4th/5th play of the ball in the opponents 20m drives me mad, its ok as a set up play to draw the defence to where you want them early in the tackle count but not many teams are as negative as we have been at times.
I struggle to find times when the inside ball has paid off for us.
The POTB is key as you have pointed out, could it be down to fitness levels at the moment because there was alot of players walking around with their hands on their hips even early on during the game.

We have never kicked and fought to get off the floor sincein SL. Walker looked to do it when he was fit last year adn was very quick up, but our plaers seem to see it as a rest period at times.
Jake Webster looked like he'd run a marathon after the 1st 10 mins yesterday, either he wasn't fit enough or couldn't be bothered, but not getting back into the attacking line for 3 to 4 POTB's is inexcusable
