Apart from letting Crabtree and Patrick run over him yes I agree

Going forward he has something special about him, but as a last line of defence he is abysmal.

These 2 factors cancel each other out, to make him nothing better than average at best.

Yes, very poor effort. He makes those tackles and they score 12 points less. He really is Jekyll and Hyde.

You cant blame him for the Crabtree try, Hodgson missed the tackle and an 11st bloke doesn't have a chance of stopping an 18st bloke from 2 yards out.

A professional player should at least make an attempt not just let the bloke walk in, Crabtree looked a little embarrassed , and Greg is 14,1/2 stone himself not 11...

As noted by others can be brilliant on occasion with the ball and does the Rovers shift to the left very well but generally inspires little confidence in the rest of play.

The Crabtree try was a tough one. It appeared to me that Greg was trying to set himself for a 20 stone monster to run at him, and it's probably what I would have done in that position, it was fair play to Eorl that he saw what Greg was doing and went round him. It was either set himself for the tackle or get run over as he was too close to the line to do anything else

I would like so see him playing at 6 or 7. As mentioned he's cracking with ball in hand.

He had a good game last night. Anyone would think Cockayne never missed a tackle at f/b. If he could maintain that standard every game he would be 1st name on the teamsheet.

Cockayne did and does drop loads of ball at full back.

A one on one full back tackle should be and is a very different thing to someone in the defensive line.

One on one, you go ball and all, you're certain to get knocked off, it's all about technique. You need to use the attacking players kinetic energy to your advantage. You have to rush them (this feels against your instincts, a monster is advancing on you, naturally you want to retreat) and that closing of the gap gives you the advantage of the attacking player being forced to make a decision. At this point you make them make the decision you want them to make.

Make them go that way. Then it's an old fashioned hips, sliding down the leg tackle.

If you're on your own line, you've already ballsed it up, you need at least seven to eight metres.

The man who embarrassed himself for Crabtrees try was Hodgson. Pathetic effort and he continued his poor run of form for me. Went well at Bratfud but was poor the previous games.

For me Eden was out standing last night. Constant threat with the ball. Targeted with plenty if bombs which he took.
The modern full back is main defensive job is to deal with kicks which they may have to every set. If they can pull down someone who has broke the defensive line then that's a bonus.

Main defensive job of a modern fb is probably to get his defensive line to number up properly either side of the ruck. I have never seen a fb worse than Eden at this task. Brain too slow and maybe he cant count.

No one should expect man stopping tackles of big forwards close to the line. What genuinely outstanding fbs do is wrap themselves around the ball and prevent the try. Look at Wellens Hardaker or Brett Hodgson. It requires technique and heart...Eden has neither.

Wow Eden caught some bombs. The universal relief that he managed it vs the Giants only highlights his usual ineptitude under high balls. So concerned was Eden with Brough bombs that he stood too deep allowing brough to chip the ball into space ahead of the Cudjoe try.

Eden a pleasure to watch in attack but hopeless in defence. His liabilities far outweigh his benefits. Outstanding? He is not even average if you want your team to be successful.
