| Time for the talking to stop and the meaningful games to begin!
Assuming Travis can't play (which as far as I'm aware is the case), what would everyone's 17 for Sunday be?
1. Eden
2. Hodgson
3. Welham
4. Salter
5. Cockayne
6. Hall
7. Keating
8. Weyman
9. Hodgson
10. A. Walker
11. Larroyer
12. Costigan
13. Langley
14. Carlisle
15. Lovegrove
16. J Walker
17. Poore
If Burns plays he would go straight in at 6 with Hall replacing Hodgson on the wing for me.
Edit: Didn't realise there was already a thread for this. Feel free to merge away.

I expect to Burns to play.
I'd play Hall in front of Salter for his goal kicking and free kicks.
It may be an idea to have Hodgson and Cockayne to switch wings though I don't think Sandy will change anything this late in pre-season.
I think there's a chance Sandy may pair an experienced prop with a younger one i.e. Weyman/J Walker & Poore/A Walker as the season progresses but he's been pretty clear about the type of team he's wanted to build and I think he's likely to start with Poore and Weyman to set the tone for the start of the match and the start of the season.

I don't think you'll be far wrong with that starting 13 in fact it almost picks itself.
Burns keeps saying he will be ready and with Hall taking all the goalkicks in the friendlies and with a 100% record it would be a surprise if we started again with another kicker now, so if he isn't at 6 he has to play instead of Salter.
In an ideal world I'd pick the same bench as you too but can Josh Hodgson play the full 80 minutes or do you have someone else in mind to take Carlile's spot as interchange hooker?

I'd go for lovegrove on the bench over cox's. He's able to fill in the pack everywhere apart from hooker and can also fill centre if needed

| I don't see what Burns has done to walk straight back into the team to be honest. He's had 2 or 3 good games since being here IMO. ( Huddersfield and Warrington)

| Burns has made a career at 6 and is still in form. What do you mean, what has he done? What has Beharrel or Hall done to stop Burns playing?
Burns at 6 if fit, every time.

IMO he wasn't good enough last season to just walk back into the team. he may well have made a career at 6 but so far he hasnt been that good a 6. IMO.
Halls played 2 friendlies and looked pretty good, personally I think he should start at 6.

I suggest looking at our win, loose ratio, with and without Burns in the team. I think this may answer your question.

| Iv said it before on here but if we could get hall Keating burns and Eden all in attacking positions at the same time it would be some attacking force. This would be Eden at fb hall and Keating hbs and burns lf

| Why do people always want Burns to be a 13? We may as well put Weyman at fullback.

| Loose forward's anything you want it to be. The more physical approach of an extra prop has just become fashionable, especially if you have a ball playing full-back. I like the idea of Hall, Burns & Keating together. Puts a bit more pressure on your big men but it would allow 4 big forwards on the bench, instead of using one of the spots on an interchance hooker who often only gets on for a few mins.

If you're a sheep it is...
Worthy of note that last years double winners employed a "normal" loose forward...

| Most coachesdon't even refer to the positions as 'prop' and 'loose forward' anymore, they talk about all three of these roles making up the 'core' with the players in these positions more or less interchangeable.
I realise O'Loughlin is a bit more like a traditional 13 than a prop but he's still not quite in the same mould as Farrell or Sinfield when he played there.
Burns is an out and out 6.

| I'd like to see Hall used from the bench spelling Hodgson and then the other forwards with Hodgson moving to the back row (13) . Give him a free role while he is on the pitch allow him to get into acting half/2nd receiver at times (ala cherry Evans and previously cooper cronk have done for Aus) David Hodgson should be on one of the wings. The forwards pretty much pick themselves, but James Green seems to have made it difficult not to pick him.
Leeds have the best set of outside backs in the league so I'd play Salter as he's our best defensive centre.

13 out the 14 super league coaches are sheep then and the team who have a normal loose forward had a prop there half the season due to injury

Not quite 13, but regardless , all those sheep won precisely zilch, and look at Wigans win ratio with O'Loughlin and without, fashion never lasts long and it is always those who swim against the tide who are at the front of things...
