It was mentioned on Sports Talk on Friday that the only friendly of either Rovers or Hull that RH would be covering live would be the derby.

Rovers official twitter has updates on it.

Since I live nearby and Barrow was a long way to go to watch the Cougars in our own friendly, I nipped along to watch Thunder v Hull KR. Not a bad afternoon's entertainment, spoilt somewhat by the 'banter' between the small band of Hull KR singers and the equally small band of Cas fans who somewhat inexplicably turned up. Maggie Thatcher, Wakefield, fishing, coal-houses. Honestly, lads, seriously unfunny and cringeworthy at times. I didn't appreciate having to explain away the sweary bits to my 8-year-old lad. And as for the song about someone being a tampon... not good.

Could you put up a song sheet? I'm intrigued.

Having read Mild Rover's post about swearing not being allowed on this forum, I'm afraid I can't.

With respect, I was there - with my 8-year-old lad. And it really wasn't in the realms of witty banter. I'm not sure whether your post means that Cougars supporters do nowt but complain about swearing or do nowt but swear. You must be going back some time - it's ages since we played either side from the East Riding.
The lads this aft no doubt thought they were hilarious whereas, in reality, they were a pain in the backside.

And you had no option to move to another part of the ground? FWIW I am very familiar with Cougar fans and yes they are a moaning bunch.

I don't think the Cougars fan was too upset about the fishing song and to be fair as a Rovers fan who was at the game, it did get a bit tedious at times. A man shouldn't have to move to another part of the ground to protect his son from foul language. Sounds like A Adler is condoning this or am I misreading him.

I didn't and don't take offence at that. It's not as if it was an 80 minute swear-a-thon; it wasn't. The Maggie Thatcher song wasn't right clever in that respect though. But it was 80 minutes of, to borrow El Red's word, tedium. Sense of humour? There was nothing to remotely activate my sense of humour because, despite the lads' best efforts throughout the game, they just weren't funny and it became, since it was constant, an unwelcome distraction from what was happening on the pitch.

A Adler, even if I had sought to move it would have been difficult with only one stand in use, the Hull KR lads at one end and the Cas comedians at the other.

Soz mate,i only mentioned the fishing song coz u did first,it was banter(that song)same with the "wheres ya cable gone" if you was a Cas fan you would laugh at that !!!
Maybe its me but a couple of songs wasnt funny but for a Rugby match 1st time out was bearable !

The fact that you made a somewhat childish comment linking some chanting to the clubs benefactor(though yet to be confirmed) smacks of either jealosy or some type of resentment.
Otherwise, why would you make such daft comment, what possible connection could there be between the two?, you would have to be pretty immature to suggest there was one.
