| Shamelessly stolen from Halifax - [urlhttp://viewtopic.php?f=15&t=439476[/url
For me, the obvious contenders are Ben Cockayne and Shaun Briscoe.
Will add a poll when all/additional contenders are identified.

| Mike Fletcher my boyhood hero!! First player I ever saw kick a penalty from the half way line.
Bob Everitt, what a tough little bloke he was!
Seems like no matter who gets that No.1 shirt they always take the fans hearts!

| I think we are very fortunate to have the best full back in Super League and a very capable replacement who can step into his shoes without any disruption to the team.

'" What would be the point; Briscoe would keep them both on the bench TBH They might sneak in ahead of Briscoe; only on their attacing ability; I still think Briscoe is the best defencive FB plying his trade in this country.

| I'd have to go with Briscoe, although I have good memories of both Fletch & Bob. Fletch was FB when I first really started watching HKR, and as someone has already mentioned he played a stormer at Boothferry Park Bob, I remember for slightly different reasons, he made sure I got home safely one night after I'd had one too many

On that basis then it would mean that the 90s wouldnt have 1990 but would have 2000. So it is 10 years.

| Briscoe is the best FB since Fairburn. Fletcher was ok as was everitt but does anyone remember Lightfoot? Was never the same player after the game against Wigan in the cup at CP.

David Lightfoot?
Help me out here, can't remember whether we,
a)Got him from Whitehaven
b)Was a Kiwi
c)I can only remember he was a decent larker and have imagined a and b.
Early 90's wasn't it? Played in the same side as Dave "Talented Kiwi off half who enjoyed a jazz cigarette and looked a bit like Robin Hood" Watkinson (was it?)

David Lightfoot came from Whitehaven and ended up living with David Bishop iirc.
Also i think you may have meant Dave Watson not Watkinson

| Thanks fellas, Dave Watson, of course, lord alone knows how I could forget. Brain cogs have been whirring over time trying to remember his surname.
Seem to remember David Lightfoot having about a season and a half of great rugby in him and then fading. Probably about the time he moved in with Bishop!

Your right he played great for about a season and a half then went off the boil a bit. It coincided with the Challenge cup game at CP against wigan. Dropped a bomb which resulted in Wigan scoring to make a final score of 6-4. Was never the same after that game.

Dave Watson was class. As was Botica, and Niebling. THink Watson ended up at Halifax?
you had great wingers as well in Sodje and Sullivan at the time. I actually watch rovers a lot in those days for my sins. Dave Bishop is still one of my all time fav players. When he played for wales, slated from the off by Stevo until he dislocated his finger, popped back in then played on. And well. Stevo changed tack rapidly, and loved him!

Yes, I think he did, had a little read about him earlier on, good article on The Indies website by Dave Hadfield written on the eve of the '98 cup final. I hadn't realised that after he'd been at Bradford and had a few, ahem, issues, ( ) he'd gone to Oz and played for Cronulla and maybe another couple of clubs then fecked up again, at which point his wife called Peter Fox (coaching legend, not England's best winger ) who told her that John Kear was looking for an off half at Sheffield, the rest as they say etc...
He'll be 41ish now, wonder what he's up to?
