I see that the dopey rovers fan from Oz is suggesting that rovers should play some games at the KC if they are promoted, also stating that average crowds will be 6-7000, with many more turning up for games against the bigger teams.
Without wanting to rain on your parade, there is no chance whatsoever that rovers would average anywhere near 7000 if they were promoted (If we discount a potential "home" game against Hull at the KC), and would, IMO, struggle to reach 5000 over the season, discounting derby games. We heard similar claims from leigh fans last year and their crowds have been pitiful, particularly given their proximity to 1/2 of SL and the benefits that brings with travelling fans.
In the time since Hull have been at the KC, the biggest travelling support has been less than 2500, and that for a top of the table clash with Bradord. I'd be very surprised if any team brought more than 1500, with most at 500 or less, particularly given the less than favourable facilities for away fans.
Having seen a number of games at the Willows this season I would say that the FC support last night stood up well to other teams away support. I would have said around 700-800, Warrington and Saints both took more but they are 20 mins away and didnt have to cross the M62 at 6pm on a Friday night. Salfords regular home support is only around 4000.
