Quote ="phil webbo"In 10 years I have watched rovers playing Batley on what was then a better pitch and ground than ours albeit with a 2:1 incline,
Rovers were playing in a mud bath which had become so dangerous that the RFL threatened relegation, I know this won't sit well with Vikings fans (as they were winning everything at the time, that's Hull not Widnes for our younger fans) but their demise opened the window of opportunity for Rovers,
Rovers were then able to widen the pitch, have corners on it, and put the golf stand upto the pitch, as the North Stand then was as bad as the South Stand, eventually the East stand was extended, then the new North Stand built aswell as new flood lighting, And with an all time high of 4th in Super league and regular playoffs, you can ask yourself this, how far have we come?
The answer my friends is further than I could ever have dreamed of 10 years ago, and I would think the RFL think the same, maybe going as far as being regarded the most improved club over that period.'"
id personally say Huddersfield were the most improved over the last 10 years but were not doing too bad really.
