| Hi all,
If you’re going to the RLWC2013 Opener in Cardiff on 26th October, please consider stopping in on Bristol on the way past:
1) =#FF0000It’s half term – a short break in the SW in October could be a great way to make the most of a trip you’re making anyway.
2) =#FF0000We’re hosting the Cook Islands vs USA group game on Wednesday 30th, a few days after the opening game. There’s a real buzz in the city about this, not least because the Cooks are a good bet for the quarters (all SL, NRL or NSW/QLD league full timers)
3) There will be a number of=#FF0000 RLWC events in Bristol that week including:
– a showing of =#FF0000This Sporting Life (we’re hoping to tie in with a =#FF0000RL writers event and a leading RL publication), on Sunday 27th
- A =#FF0000Cheerleaders event, also be on Sunday 27th
- An exhibition of =#FF0000SW RL History (there’s more than you think!)
- =#FF0000Cook Island Maori Dance Performances
- We hope to arrange venues to =#FF0000show the other RLWC2013 games live
4) Bristol is a FAB city for =#FF0000family activities, eg @Bristol kids science museum, SS Great Britain, Bristol Aquarium, Bristol Zoo (Johnny Morris, anyone?).
5) It also has a great =#FF0000music scene, really good =#FF0000bars, =#FF0000restaurants, =#FF0000shopping (Harvey Nicks), etc. Think Portishead, Tricky, Goldie, Russell Howard, Justin Lee Collins, Banksy, Raymond Blanc, and, of course, Wallace & Gromit.
6) It’s also 25 minutes from =#FF0000Bath, 40 minutes from =#FF0000Cardiff, Cheltenham & Gloucester, and a stop-off point on the way to =#FF0000Stonehenge or the =#FF0000Dorset, Devon & Cornwall coast.
7) Bristol is a really good place to stay even if you’re only going to the Cardiff game. It’s 30 minutes on the train, easy to get in and out of, and has =#FF0000lots of hotel accommodation.
