No one is expecting them to be perfect but fans do expect them to have a[u grasp of the rules [/uand some [uconsistency [/u in applying them, the absense of the latter is what peeves most supporters.
With regards them making less mistakes than players or coaches, if a player constantly makes mistakes, then he is eventually dropped from the team as a consequence, if a coach does the same, then he will eventually lose his job.
