i'm after a bit of info if possible on my grandfather, due to a conversation with my father recently he was mentioning about my grandfather playing rugby for one of the hull clubs, the probelm was he couldn't remember which hull club it was as he was a young lad at the time, the dates my grandad would have been playing work out to either just before or just after world war two, i have checked the hull fc past players list and he isn't on there so this is why i think there could be a rovers link, his name was alf stovin, born around 1912 i think, died 1959. i realise that a lot of players in the old days played as trailists and went down as a n other but if any information on him is found it would be greatly appreciated so i could pass it on to my dad.

You'll be lucky to find anyone on here who has been watching rovers for more than 4 years mate. try ringing the club

I've got the Centenary history of Hull KR at home. It lists every player who played for Rovers from pre-WWI to about 1983. I'll have a look when I get back from work.

Barrington signed for Hull KR from Motley Rangers in 1936. His signing on fee was 7 shillings, a patty supper and six pence. Considered 'quite quick for a fat lad', he was a player ahead of his time in many respects, often kicking away possession on the sixth in these days of unlimited tackles - much to the chagrin of Rovers fans.

Sadly the Second World War curtailed his career. He is now 95 years old and lives in a residential care home, but he still enjoys a patty and an occasional milk stout. Hull FC are rumoured to be interested in securing his services for the 2011 season.

I dont know what you are laughing at. Mild Rovers disclosure that the "fat lad" has a kicking game may well tempt Agar into offering him a deal. Plus with Lauaki injured you are a fat lad down.
