It's been reported that Alan Davies has died at the age of 75.
He was one of, if not the best centre I ever saw.
When he came to Wigan it was towards the twilight of his career but he was still good enough to put Frank Carlton on tour.
Sincere condolences to all his family and friends.
I am a HKR fan and well remember the 1963 R.L.Cup semi final when Wigan beat HKR. Alan Davies scored a hat trick that day and gave everyone in the Headingly Ground a complete lesson in the art of centre play. I have seen many great centres but doubt any as good as Alan Davies. Sympathy to his family and friends.
