Well we won ...
So why carp on about anything?

Same old same ... we let them back in again.

Newcastle's result at London shows them as better than we expected.
Would we have done that?
Don't think so.
Let's hope they can defeat some of the top sides and help us out.

Reliant on Feka, we still can't kick on ...
Maybe the two halfbacks of Hedges and Howden will get us over the line ....

It's a win, but underwhelming.

I am really worried about this season, we really struggled against Coventry in the 2nd half, they are a big physical side who lack the skill we have, however they looked so much stronger and our tackling was appalling, only 3/4 of our squad could match them.

I fear another season in this league which is demoralising, to all the staff at the club please please sort this mess.

I think we have to appreciate that some of our key players are out injured , Tonks, Milton & I donot think we have seen the best of Hedges yet either .

We need a to be placed as high as possible in the 8's, to get 4 home games.

I am not making excuses for some performances but the injuries must be a major factor.

You're right ... too many smallish players.
They can be as skilful as anyone, but if they can't resist near their line or are getting battered and injured in midfield it is not sustainable.
There is only room for small players if they are exceptional and muscular.
Harsh ... but it's a physical game!
Recruitment needs to be more specific and targetted.

We are not big enough and that equates to not good enough.
Which in no way means we aren't good because we are ... but as last week showed we can't dominate.

Very similar to Toulouse actually S/O. Quite a small team physically who depend on speed and fitness. Their squad is relatively small in numbers too and recent suspensions and injuries are taking their toll.

I think if we were full time as they are we would be better, but we aren't unfortunately and not good enough to beat Toulouse at their place.
At the moment at least.

You never know , just been watching the St Helens game thanks to Geoff. Who would have thought that we would have won there, will always remember that.

I appreciate we have key players injured and it was the 2nd row where we struggled yesterday, but some of our tackling was inept and almost lazy, this was probably because we were tiring due to the amount of time we spent defending.

We were guilty of spilling the ball to often and forcing play when in front giving Coventry a lot of ball time, their pack got on a roll and if they had better half backs would've won.

I am generally very positive but other than a trip to the south of France this league doesn't excite me so the thought of another season at this level enhances my negativity at the moment.

I didn't go yesterday but I thought we may struggle with a depleted pack .

Lets hope we get some bodies back who can have a run out v Oxford before the trip to France .

I very much agree with the points raised about the size of our players. It is a concern.

S/O has often made the point that to be small and effective, you have to be outstandingly good.

We spend too much time defending our own line and it takes its toll. This is generally on the back of losing the ruck which allows other teams to have fast play the balls which put us under pressure. The other side get a roll on. If you're not careful you start holding down in the tackle and give penalties away. And the cycle goes on.

I agree with Rugblyman that this league doesn't set the pulse racing. The league is poorly structured for starters. The thought of another season in it really isn't what we want.

We need to stay in the top four to get four home games when the league splits. That could be key to how well we do. It's not going to be easy but despite our short-comings, let's hope we can do it and then keep clear of injuries when it really matters.

We really do need to get out of this league this season.

If we don't get promoted, which thus far is unlikely, then they shove another outfit in from Toronto that are gonna be good, because they don't want them to fail.

Meanwhile the dross in our division can only get better or else pack in ....

I must admit that when their full back bumped off a Dons statue and ran 20 metres to score under the posts around the hour mark I feared we would let Coventry back in.

A win, and an away win at that, is a win but there are tougher away fixtures than this to come (including the two currently unbeaten sides) and we'll have to go up a few gears to finish in the top four I feel.

Reading the Star & the official site sounds like GT wasn't too impressed either .
