| The statement released yesterday by York City Knights matches the thoughts which Tony Miller came out with a few weeks back. I see no problem with giving SL U22s a bit of match experience with a Championship side, but to give top quality players 'fitness' for one game is a bit too much.

Don't we have 4?
Cowling
Goulding
Kay
Trout
I would say, while I am not the biggest fan of DR, we do seem to at least be following the spirit of it with young players for sustained periods of time. (not old heads, or players chopping and changing each week).
Cowling is now in his second year for us and the other three have also played more games for us than they ever have for Wakefield

| Thought it was a general question jemmo, as in too many for all teams. But your right in the Dons are keeping to the spirit of the dual reg system. I do think super league clubs have a duty to do the same, sadly some are abusing it.

| I'm just interested how other supporters feel about so it is just a general question.
the reason i ask is because i thought donny have 4 DRs from wakey and a loan player from cas? .
Like jemmo says though, i think they're all young players

I like Cowling, did a lot for us last year and still doing a job. I like Kay also.
Not sure Goulding will make it in SL as I am not yet convinced he is better than what we already have.
Only seen Trout once so can't comment really

The Warrington / Swinton link up is probably the one which concerns me most. I'm not convinced it's helping Swinton but I'm sure Tony Smith thinks it's a fantastic idea.

| We missed boat on Mariano as apparently was available and Miller took Trout (to be fair for all the right reasons) but in honesty I haven't seen much from Trout that would make me miss him one way or another, that said TM has all the stats we dont see.
I think Dual Reg raises masses of concerns, but there is no point riding above it as a martyr if it puts you back in league below.....

| Dual Register has its merits IF the system isnot abused eg by Warrington/Swinton & Leeds/Hunslet.
Just realised Wakefield are in France , so cannot see either Trout and/or Mariano being available !

| The Dual Reg is fundamentally a good idea as long as Super League teams use it to develop their youngsters rather than give game time to older players who aren't in their first team.
The RFL ought to have firmed up some sensible rules in order to stop its incorrect use.
The rules should be on these lines:
1) No more than 4 Dual Reg players to be allowed to play for a club at any given time
2) Players must be Under 23
3) Players who have played more than a certain number of Super League games (max 20?) should be excluded from being available.
We don't want the Championship to become the Super League reserves. We don't want the development of Championship players to suffer because of the arrangement.
If we strike the right balance by having sensible rules we can make this work properly for everyone.
If you don't have proper rules in place, those who operate within the spirit of the rules may suffer, whilst those who exploit the loopholes could benefit.
This is why the RFL must make it impossible for Dual Reg to be abused.
It concerns me that the RFL can't see these problems before they arise, as opposed to having to deal with them after the event ... eventually.

| this is getting beyond a joke now with some of the super league clubs.
someone i.e the rfl needs to step in pretty sharpish before it ruins this division
or we have all our registered players start leaving
i believe its already happened with Fran Welsh

| Some players in this division will find themselves sidelined and possibly surplus to requirements because of Super League Dual Reg. This is sad and I feel for the affected players.
If they are good enough, I'm sure they'll fight their way back into Championship rugby.
The benefits of Dual Reg include the fact that the standard of rugby in our division will probably be a little higher than it would otherwise have been and that might make it more attractive to the general public. We need to get as many people through the gate as possible for the general good of the game.
If we overdo things and become reserve sides for Super League teams, people won't perceive the changes as good, and will stay away.
A sensible balance needs to be struck and we need the RFL to take action on this matter sooner rather than later.

Similar to the DR agreement drawn up and signed by Halifax ,Fev,Leigh and Eagles and which they would like all clubs to agree to. Having looked at the details I think it would be a step in the right direction and address many of the concerns raised.
