One for you Geoff , do you know the first name of a player called Margrave. He made 4 appearances in 1970. Where he was from would be a bonus .

Hi Paul, there was a player called Colin Margrave who played in the 60's & 70's for Wakefield amatuer team Stanley Rangers & there is a player listed at fullback as A.N.Other for the Dons game against Hull FC 17th October 1970 he may have been registered at the rugby league as Colin Margrave but if he was a trialist he may have been listed on the team sheet as A.N.Other.

Stuart Piper made his debut for the Dons on Boxing Day 1970 & he was shown on the team sheet as A.N.Other the game was against Widnes which the Dons won 12-11 the BBC Tv rugby league commentator Ray French was in the Widnes team.

If you speak to Stuart he may remember a player called Margrave in the 70's but I can't recall the name myself, when I get some spare time I will go up in to my loft & search through my collection of programmes to see if the name Margrave crops up.

I have trawled through all the v Dons home programmes for seasons 1969-1970-1971-1972 & the name Margrave does not appear in the Dons team line up for any of the games in this period.I have also read all the individual programme notes & again nowhere is the name Margrave mentioned.
There are quite a few A.N. Onthers listed in some of the Dons lineups so he could have played as a trialist in fact it states in a 1971 programme that the Dons fielded six trialist in the away game at Widnes on April 13th which they lost 54-2.

When I get some more spare time I will have a look through my away programmes for the same periods.
