Quote ="Wanderer"K&VWR yesterday which of course included some real ale along the way
Acorn Kashmir 4.7% in the Livery Rooms, Keighley (a 'Spoons)
TT Ram Tam 4.3% in the Boltmakers Arms, Keighley (effectively the TT Brewery Tap)
TT Best Bitter 4.0% in the Fleece, Haworth (another TT house).
Haworth looks like a good place for a night out ... four pubs on the cobbles, three with Cask Ale.'"
If you enjoyed the KWVR then the following may be of interest.
www.kwvr.co.uk/beerfestival.html
It's held annually in the engine shed at Oxenhope Station and it's a great venue. They even serve ale on the trains from Keighley.
Haworth is a pretty good night out, although some of the pubs charge tourist prices. Just remember to start at the top of Main St and work down.
Interesting for you to mention The Boltmakers. It's a cracking little pub. It only takes about 10 people in there for it to be packed and the ale has pretty much always been known for being the best pint of Taylor's in Keighley.

| Thornbridge Seaforth at the Wye Bridge, Buxton. An excellent IPA...but disappointingly, no Axe Edge or black Rocks from the local brewery

Ossett Excelsior- tried and trusted IPA
Springhead Roaring Meg and Newark Castle Brown- both excellent and.....
rather pleasingly, at the Hind, Rotherham :-
Acorn Sorachi IPA- these hops give this particular IPA a distinctive taste.

Surprised not to have seen you then, we were in there around 10pm although we only had one drink there (an unappealing brew called Acorn Cantley Common 4.5%).
The Old Angel had a much better Acorn ale (IMO) in the shape of Allabaculia 6.0% a ginger stout which was one to sip but wasn't heavy on the ginger.

| It's a shame The Dons lost on Sunday, it's Keighley Beer Festival this weekend coming.
It's only a 5 minute walk from Cougar Park as well.
Had a pint of Thornbridge Kipling in Mr Foley's Cask Ale House in Leeds last night, good stuff.

| Firestone Walker Red Nectar Ale 5.0% for only the second time this weekend. The first was Newcastle a few weeks ago, the second Saturday evening in the Old Angel.
Also tried a pint of Peerless Dark Arts 4.1% in Cask Corner. From the Wirral, this is a dark bitter which is inoffensive if also unspectacular.

| It's the first day of the Wetherspoon Real Ale and Cider festival.
Lasts until the 23rd I believe.
Was in the Wetherspoon opposite the Hallamshire hospital today, the Francis Newton (used to be called Aunt Sally).
Had three thirds ... Milestone Lemon and Ginger Ale (different), Maxim Samson (4.7%) and by mistake a cider from Wales, Black Dragon (7.2%).
The wife had Fat Head's Yakima Sun from the USA (5.0%).
She got the best ... so I had a pint as well.
I noted they also had Ward's Best Bitter and that also comes under the Maxim banner.
PS I have got the tasting notes booklet Wanderer, so don't be plagerising their descriptions and passing them off as your own.

| First ales of this Autumn's JDW festival last night;
Wharfebank Treacle Toffee Stout 4.4% (in the Red Lion) ... very disappointing, the sort of drink I expect to like but simply insipid and in honesty the 'alleged' toffee and treacle flavours in the aftertaste came across more as involving cheap cocoa powder.
Wychwood Ginger Beard 4.5% (also in the Red Lion) ... slightly better although not as 'fiery' as advertised.
Gave the Gatehouse a miss as it was pretty busy and it always seems a struggle to get served in there on a Saturday evening unless it's bordering on empty.
Not for the first time, the Old Angel didn't have half the beers 'on show' (and they certainly didn't say 'available soon'). I did however sample Kalamazoo Black Silk from Bells Brewery in Michigan, US a 4.0% porter which was much more palatable than the previous two ales and Batemans XB (which needs no explanation / description).
Best drink of the night was Wentworth Mild Chilli and Chocolate Stout 4.8% in Cask Corner. Bits of everything in the mix, toffee and coffee complimenting the chilli and chocolate. Very nice
