| Some highlights from last weekend's Bedfordshire / Northamptonshire jaunt ...
Wells Eagle 3.6% a very quaffable IPA in the Duke at Kempston, Beds.
Shepherd Neame Canterbury Jack 3.5% in the Green Man at Eversholt, Beds (a very nice pub in a lovely village - well worth a visit).
Oakham Ales Bishops Farewell 4.6% in the Ship at Oundle, Northants.

| Cask Corner had the interestingly named I'm The Only Beer In The Village 4.3% (North Yorkshire Brewing Company) available on Thursday evening. Sadly, the amusing name was the best thing about the brew which put simply was bland in the extreme.
The Adnams Gunhill 4.0% in the Old Angel was much more palatable.
Brewsters Rutterkin 4.6% seems to be a favourite in the local 'Spoons at the moment so I thought I'd give it a whirl in the Gatehouse but for me the citrus flavours were just a tad overpowering.
Evening concluded with Tetley Midsummer Madness 3.8% in the Tut.

| I thought Moonlight was going to post something about going to the Sal before the Workington match ... it being the last league home game.
But it might not be our last home game ...... so who knows?
Anyway he hasn't...

We should definitely do that if we get a home play-off game.

You unlucky bugger, you missed a cracking match.
I can't see us getting into the Sal this season for that drink
Today was the last chance.

| K&VWR yesterday which of course included some real ale along the way
Acorn Kashmir 4.7% in the Livery Rooms, Keighley (a 'Spoons)
TT Ram Tam 4.3% in the Boltmakers Arms, Keighley (effectively the TT Brewery Tap)
TT Best Bitter 4.0% in the Fleece, Haworth (another TT house).
Haworth looks like a good place for a night out ... four pubs on the cobbles, three with Cask Ale.

Were they serving real ale on the train? The train won CAMRA pub of the season a few years back.

Just for a second I thought you'd found a real ale mecca in Harworth. I thought What the heck.
Sampled Rudgates IPA 5.2% in the Jemmy Hirst at Rawcliffe. Good but still behind Castle Rocks Screech Owl 5.5% and the beloved Jaipur in the IPA stakes. Had a lovely drop of York Brewery Guzzler 3,6% in The Angel at Mission but the best of the weekend was Batemans(no surprise) All Seasons 4.2% at The Rum Runner in Retford. (Just noticed this post number matches the year my Daughter was born )

| A pint of Nick Staffords Hambleton Ales Stud 4.3% was enjoyed in the Plough at Low Bradfield yesterday. Also called at the Plough, West Melton but unfortunately the only available Cask Ale was John Smiths (which I can / will drink but would have prefered a choice ).

Dropped in the Rum Runner yesterday and sat in the courtyard with a pint of XB ... also called at the Ship in Bawtry and sipped a pint of Wychwood Scarecrow 4.2% in their beer garden.

If you enjoyed the KWVR then the following may be of interest.
www.kwvr.co.uk/beerfestival.html
It's held annually in the engine shed at Oxenhope Station and it's a great venue. They even serve ale on the trains from Keighley.
Haworth is a pretty good night out, although some of the pubs charge tourist prices. Just remember to start at the top of Main St and work down.
Interesting for you to mention The Boltmakers. It's a cracking little pub. It only takes about 10 people in there for it to be packed and the ale has pretty much always been known for being the best pint of Taylor's in Keighley.
