| What makes it worse is we would have been off the bottom with Leigh hammering Whitehaven.
i think we need some players in quick or it will be to far to come back from.
And Carl Hall did say ONLY a win was acceptable today nothing less.
Lets see where these so called funds are now before its too late.
If its not already.

| Paul "yes man" cooke has stated it was a step in the right direction and vastly improved and whilst it was we still have a duck egg next to our name in the table! we simply dont have that star quality player or a solid halves pairing that those around us do, i hate being doom and gloom but the spare cash that was promised desperatly needs to be seen COYD

So you think an attack on Cooke is going to help?

Attack is a bit extreme, contary if you have seen my previous posts they say i hope cookey is he as long as possible and that still stands its just he seems to read from the same script each week when reviewing a match. whilst it was alot better if todays match has given him more hope and made him hapier for the future were in major trouble! we can still stay up i believe but not with this current crop of players sorry for sounding harsh.

| The game continues. If only some of the newer posters to this forum had found their way to posting their views say last year for instance when we appeared to have done ok and Cookey was Coach of the year. But what the frig do I know. This is depressing now, what on earth is the bloke suppose to say. I give up on here its soul destroying. You know my stance. I hope the club and the players pull it around.
Wishing you all the best.

So the people on here who have the opinion that were in alot of trouble and theres not enough quality in the squad to stay up are lesser fans than the veterans who have been posting on here for yonks? as i say im a massive paul cooke fan and were lucky to have him but sport is fickle he got the credit and awards for last year and now being winless in 6 league we need to see a ruthless paul cooke. my objection mainly is he and carl hall could see we were behind many in our league and lacking that star quality but have done little or nothing about it. championship 1 is staring us in the face we cant keep waiting and talking a good game.

| DR has done nothing to help, they are no better than what we have or had.. I think the rot set in by not changing the players who weren't performing, when it was said at the beginning of the season that any player not performing could lose their place and would have to fight for it.. A blind man could see the problems!

| I wasn't going to put in a quote but seeing as Moonlight is at it again with his leave Cooke alone campaign, especially if you have only just joined the forum. It was sad to see the lads so gutted after such a spirited performance in the first half but Batley were there for the taking and we are just not up to it. Cooke signed the players and makes the decisions which are just not good enough. Also I'm sorry to say neither is he in such a key position. There was a moment in the second half where he was made to look pedestrian by a Batley lad but I guess he has to play because we are short on anyone else. Come on get real and face the fact that last season has gone.Me and several others on the forum saw these problems several games ago and they should have been addressed then. We need to get some quality players in quickly if possible, before we get detached at the foot of the table.

| There is a thread that asks the club to admit they got it wrong, by saying we are now looking for players, have they not done that?, some said Rovers won't spend money on the Dons, yet Carl says there are funds available, personally, I don't believe he would lie to us, but everyone has their own opinion, and I respect that, they have a right to have their say, it's a forum. I believe we will stay up, won't be easy, but I think we will improve, yes new blood is needed, but not a new coach, again , my opinion. Don't think we will see a glut of signings, don't think we need many, had we had our injured players yesterday, I reckon we would have won that game yesterday.

| The margins between winning and losing can be very small and that was the case yesterday. I believe that had Lee Waterman been playing instead of Alex Gilbey we would have probably won.
That's no reflection on Alex Gilbey as I feel for the lads that have to come into the side with little or no game time behind them. It's hard enough for an experienced player to be match fit and fully in tune with what's going on, never mind someone with little experience.
I didn't mention in my earlier post about the game that I thought Paul Cooke tried to take more control of the game by playing a more central role in attack. He was more prepared to take the line on, and his efforts showed how desperate he is to get our first win on the board.
A negative element from the game was our lack of pace generally.

| But lee was carrying a knock so it doesn't matter if he would have done better out there he wasnt available to put out. I agree gilbey looked lost but I would say so did kittrick and at a lot of times in attack so did Mitch clark. But with certain players carrying injuries they seemed the only option and there was players out there heavily bandaged up too. Hopefully Craig Robinson is ok he was playing well before the injury.

Unfortunately he may have dislocated his shoulder and I agree he was playing really well. But doesn't it again bring into question Cooke's thinking because he favoured the DR players in the earlier games, ahead of Craig who always gives 110% and usually plays well.

No, it doesn't bring Paul Cooke's thinking into question. Craig Robinson has publicly stated that he agrees with the DR system.

What would Cooke have done if Craig stated he didn't agree with the DR system. Keep out of the team altogether?

I would have hoped that had Craig Robinson spoken out against the DR system Paul Cooke would have listened to his reasons and taken them on board. As a senior player his views should be respected. A good manager listens to people, although they might not always agree with what is being said, they certainly shouldn't hold honesty against them.
[iJust because you don't like what he's said, you're assuming he doesn't mean it.[/i
We need to remember the club has the DR arrangement with Hull because they want to. No one is forcing them to do it ... but then again maybe PC doesn't like it but can't speak out against it? Maybe Carl Hall doesn't like it but can't speak out against it?
No, common sense says that the club and management team do think DR adds something to the Dons or else they wouldn't be doing it.
Having said that, I can understand why a player [umay[/u not think DR is a good idea. It could mean his place in the team is at risk, but competition for places happens from many sources, not just from DR.
A player might not be too happy if a new player was signed on a permanent basis as he could feel threatened by this too.
Competition from other sources, whatever they may be, is a fact of life in sport. The upshot should be that it drives players on to become better players.
The best response the current players can show, to make DR redundant, is to play well enough in order that they can't be left out!

Like and respect what you have said. We don't know the exact details of the DR agreement but I do think Cookes links with Hull play a big part. It's significant that Turgot, who had a decent game against Batley, is on loan from Hull but it's time to look elsewhere if we are going to get out of this situation.

I think there was a big difference when Robbo went off.

Logovi'i Mulipola the Leicester prop was there for a surprise 21st birthday gathering for Pas Dunn, There were many other ex Kiwi rugby league players present along with our old player Vila Matautia. I had the pleasure of chatting to Logovi'i and yes i do agree he is a man mountain.

Jamie Shaul also in the 19 but didn't play but suppose with the injuries they have and 2 games over Easter took the precaution not to risk injury playing for us.

Prop Chris Green was injured in the Cas match. He's likely to be out for some time. It's quite possible that with Hull's injury situation they didn't feel they could risk Paleaaesina getting injured playing for us.
Of course Hull are going to look after themselves first. They'd be daft not to.
We're always going to be reliant on their goodwill which is why DR is not the perfect way to go. We need to be able to be self-sufficient and have enough quality players of our own.
