Gateshead football match is off so seems right

this is way way premature should have waited till morning they wont get as big a crowd for midweek game it GAME IS OFF

What a disappointment!

The Dons Northern Rail Cup round one clash against Gateshead Thunder's has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Pitch temperatures in the north east are still not rising above freezing and with further frost due for this evening, it has been decided to postpone the match now to give both sets of fans plenty of notice.

The Dons will make an announcement when the fixture is to be played as soon as it is confirmed by both clubs.

We'll not be taking a coach up in midweek I should imagine, that's their loss.
Still, I would sooner the players not have to risk themselves.
It would have been a grand day out too.
I don't suppose I will be going up there now.

Personally i think it was a sensible decision. Rugby league is a demanding game on the body anyway without adding adverse conditions to the mix.

Having played rugby in both extremes of weather, I'm more than inclined to agree.

Noted that most of the games have been re arranged for Wednesday , but at the time the RL Express went to press our game hasnot been rearranged.

The Dons Northern Rail Cup opener against Gateshead will now take place on Wednesday 15th February at the Gateshead International Stadium. The game will kick-off at 8.00pm.

All pre-purchased tickets are still valid, and prices are £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and under 12's are free.

Silly question, we are not running a coach are we?
No time to get there if folk are working etc etc .......

I can't make it either and if Paul Cooke does play maybe the club will have the video of the game for sale? Ray said it was intended to make video's available for some matches.Would be £5 in the clubs pocket instead of Gateshead's. Put my name down for one.

i all, looking forward to game on wednesday night, is paul cooke going to be playing? will be a tough game for us though we've improved our squad from last season and im confident we will have a good season this year, hope to see you all at the game, have a safe journey.

Was going had it have been played Sunday ... work commitments prevent me from attending the re-arranged fixture.

We (Dons) need a strong performance to lay the marker down for Championship 1 matches to come .

Reckon Tony is going to have a tricky job picking a 17 . Townend injured but plenty of cover in the forwards.
