| Been to the Half Moon Inn at Willingham by Stow ( on the B1241 between Gainsborough and Lincoln ) and sampled their rather wonderful Grafters' Wobble Gob. Liked it so much I brought the rest of the barrel home with me! The brewery is in a shed next door and the chap was adding nutmeg, cinnamon and candied peel to their Xmas brew, Greetings, as I waited for him to decant mine. Smelt divine! Never had a bad beer yet from there.

| Ales sampled on Christmas Eve in Doncaster ..
Derventio Brewery Mrs Claus 4.0%
Triple F I Can't Remember 6.8%
(both in Cask Corner)
Marston Christmas Pudding 3.9%
and the version of Thorne Darleys Ghost which is doing the rounds are the moment ... sadly a little too sweet for me
(both in the Salutation)

| New Year seen-in in Cask Corner and helping the festivities along were;
Toad Tadpole, Toad Mature Toad and one from the brewery which I hadn't tasted before, Leaf Kicker 3.8%.
also
Willys Original Bitter 3.9% (apparently brewed in Cleethorpes)
Tom Woods Christmas Cheers 4.5% and
Cottage Somerset & Dorset Ale 4.4%
the last named being my favourite of the evening so a second helping was required (rude not to ).

| A visit to York yesterday included the following ...
A couple of pints of the ever-reliable Thornbridge Lord Marples in the Pivni WBF.
A seasonal Thornbridge brew Wild Holly 4.8% in Harkers.
Great Heck Final Judgement 4.1% in Judges Cellar Bar (reported as brewed specially for the bar).
Woods (Shropshire) Christmas Cracker 6.0% in the Maltings.
Not a bad drink all day

| Had a brief spell in town yesterday afternoon which yielded ...
Tom Woods Christmas Cheer 4.5%
Shardlow Five Bells 5.0%
(both in Cask Corner)
Blindmans Siberia 4.7%
(Old Angel)
all very enjoyable.
The last named brewery was one I'd not spotted before but is in Leighton (near Frome) Somerset.

no problems with the booze SO - it's just that the red wine is actually good for you - just polished off a Côtes de Rhone Villages 2008 @ €1.65 a bottle - keeps the ticker in good shape and gets me pi**ed at the same time ! seems common sense to me !
i'll send you up a case next time my mate goes up to Leeds - he'll drop it off at the Keepmoat for you - do you prefer red, rosé or white ?

Red every time.
Just make sure you put 'for the attention of Stand-Offish only'.
Shiraz if possible.

| Sampled a couple of new ones last night in Cask Corner ... Vale Special 4.5% and Milestone Olde English Ale 4.9% ... both very enjoyable ....
Had earlier had a couple of old favourites (Ossett Red and Daleside Old Leg Over) in the Salutation ...
... and a pint of Yorkshire Grey Best in the Yorkshire Grey.
I'm starting to develope a real problem with the last named pub ... last night, they ran out of both YGB and Bombadier in the space of 2 minutes
