I am not questioning the standard of the play, no, there are some good sides.
It"s the frequency of games (lack of) and that owing to a good side of championship level being plonked in the division two years on the trot, there is effectively only one promotion place.

| Cant we just say we don't want to play today and then arrange it for a midweek when it suits us better when the injured lads are back? It works for some teams!

| Appointing a charlatan like Thornton was a huge mistake. The only ability he has as a coach is the ability to strip players of all skill and confidence.

| Thank goodness we had a change of heart and had a Family day at home. Obviously very well done Barrow and if they are the side that gets the second spot so be it. It certainly won't be the Dons. Listening to Noble during the semi final broadcast and it would appear that Toronto will be just as good if not better than Toulouse next year. Gawd help us.
For me it has to be a change at the top. Not holding my breath.

| The club is fooked, finished.
Who the hell apart from season ticket holders are going to buy into that crap.
Hardly a pay at the gate supporter will return.
And all of this was predictable.
I feel sorry for Thornton on two levels .... need I elaborate?

| Didn't make it today, but watching the Twitter feed, it sounds like a proper drubbing. Discipline has cost us all season, and you are never going to compete with a man down let alone two in the bin. Can't see what positives can be taken from today.
IMO if we don't get up this year can't see it happening without the big money similar to the foreign two have to secure promotion.

| Hall & Thornton have to take a good look at themselves , couldn't/ wouldn't sign a half back b4 the deadline.
Tom Carr played 6 in attack & on the wing in defence ,couldn't tackle must have been injured . Wright had a stinker & Kes was injured most of the game !
Discipline was shocking AGAIN.
What a disappointment , Barrow showed us to play much quicker .
Only plus was the try at the end. Try of the season.

| Well, the writing was on the wall as soon as the team sheet was (eventually) revealed.
No recognised half backs pretty much results in the lack of any attacking ability and puts all the pressure on the defensive effort which has been sadly lacking against all but the whipping boys in this division.
Presumably the late announcement of the team was to hide the deficiency from the Barrow coaching staff but as a ploy(?), it was pretty obvious from early on that it was going to be another long afternoon for the Donny faithful.
It's been no secret for a number of weeks that we're lacking in the key positions of 6 & 7 but what have the coaching staff done to shore things up? Much as I don't like dual registration, don't Hull FC have any players kicking their heals on a Sunday afternoon? Aren't there any local amateur lads who play in the halves on a regular basis who could do a job for us for a couple of weeks? Surely it's got to be better than sticking Kes into scrum half, a tactic that has already been a proven failure in the Hunslet match.
I'll see out this season, given that I've been daft enough to buy a season ticket, but while ever we're expected to watch dross and have a crappy league set-up which has minimal meaningful fixtures three or four weeks between each home fixture, I think I'll find better things to do with my Sunday afternoons.
If Donny are serious about having a RL team going forwards, there's got to be some serious changes from the top and the coaching personnel because it's just not working.

Was it one of many who bought the 4 ticket for the price of 3 deal.

| Ah yes, the discipline - how did I manage to forget it?
It's another facet of the Donny attitude that once we start looking beaten, the cheap shots come in.
Walton's tackle was so late that the ball had been passed a couple of times before he made contact.
I don't expect to see 13 angels on the field but I do expect to see fair challenges, the game's tough enough as it is.
Do we have any stats re completion rates for the match either? From the amount of ball we coughed up, it must be pretty minimal.
Again, any half-decent coach would get these areas sorted.

| Yes you did Weighman, it was me but it was a full season ticket. I am sick of the way the club is being run and supporters being conned by management.I doubt Howden has been fit all season and knowing that a problem could arise at any time the club have done nothing to find a replacement. It wouldn't be so bad if Barrow were a good side but they weren't. Our totally inept performance made them look better than they are and to be honest I don't think they put up a performance because they were so bad.I don't know what Thornton does at training but it has become obvious he hasn't got a clue. The club knew some money was coming in from the cup semi but where will that go,probably to some other foundation, scholorship or academy upon which Club Doncaster likes to make it's name. That's the problem, making a name off the pitch is more important than the product on the pitch.Club Doncaster has taken the Rovers and the Dons down and it may not end there.I know someone will come on and say there would be no Dons without Club Doncaster but get real the whole set up stinks from the top down.We are going nowhere if this set up carries on so the only hope is a takeover at some time in the future.Last but not least the man we owe a lot to,Carl Hall.Well I am sorry his passion is taking us nowhere and even he is now sounding like he is pulling the wool over supporters eyes. The interviewer in the latest In the Dugout asked about the half back problem and Carl conveniently didn't answer it,just like he does when any sort of probing question is asked.
This is the end for me because the thrill of watching my beloved team has gone. The same old same old will happen again next season if the club remains as it is so unfortunately there is no way back.
Thank god we do have a team to be proud of in Doncaster Knights whose management and officials really know how to make a club successful and in addition have had the sense to say no thank you to the joke that is Club Doncaster.

| Well what a total shambles, Carl you need to sort this mess out, we've only had 2 recognised half backs all season and your coach obviously hasn't deemed it an issue if either or both were unavailable, discipline as been another issue all season which your coach hasn't taken control of, poor defending as been an issue all season which your coach hasn't addressed sufficiently.
Carl, you've stated that club Doncaster have supported your coach when he's asked for a player, and that investment is there if felt needed, therefore it must be your coach that hasnt deemed it necessary to ask.

| If he has asked then we the fans have not been told the truth, and the coach should state as much when at the fans forum meetings rather than saying the right thing, he would get more respect, be interesting to know the truth before I consider buying a season ticket.

| Nice talking to you up in the restaurant today tattyfield.
I intend to stick to what I said.
Goodbye Dons, I kept my part of the deal, you just took the p/ss.
Hunslet beat Keighley away.
Thornton don't give us any shi/t about winning next week.
Ain't gonna happen.

| I think that we've all known deep-down that we were probably no better than the 4th best side in the league. What we saw today proved that. Barrow have got better whilst we've got worse (since we last played them).
Even if we'd had all players fit today, we wouldn't have won. Barrow were far bigger than us and we couldn't cope with the physicality. The same applied in the defeat at home to York. When that happens the discipline goes too.
It's probably hard for Gary Thornton to declare that he's not getting the backing from the club, if that is the case. If he has got the backing of the club, we have to question why he recruited so many players that aren't good enough to get us out of this league.
I'm not against trying to develop youngsters but you've got to have players like Liam Harrison and Oliver Wilkes around. For the second year running, we've very seriously under-estimated the quality of the opposition. With one promotion place up for grabs next season, there needs to be very serious investment in the team or else we'll still be in this division in 2018 and the supporter base will be dwindling to nothing, especially with the awful fixture scheduling this league has.

| I agree it is difficult for any coach to speak out if not supported by the board , however if rumour is fight he was offered a half back from hull for today, if true then he should walk.

| As I stated earlier in the thread, I couldn't attend today. Whilst the result wasn't a surprise, the twitter updates didn't make good reading. The saddest thing for me is that at one time I hated missing games, win, lose or draw. Today, it didn't feel like it mattered. I expected a loss and I expected it to effectively kill our season.
