| Quote ="SteveRoebuck"Are they funding US or are they funding The Rovers.....the signings we have made don't indicate we have extra income from the ground share agreement. I wonder how many of the Rovers January dealings (loan and signings) were paid for by this fund?
I dare say that even the most average of League 1 players costs more than a decent Championship 1 RL player. Its something we are likely to never know but they have had a bit of a flurry of both loan and permanent signings while we seem to be struggling to sign anyone of note.'"
Carl said that ALL that money came to the Dons.

| He was hardly likely to say anything else was he I have followed the Dons for far to long not to be cynical and pessimistic.
Along with the money from the high league finish last year and the extra income I would have expected us to have recruited in some higher profile signings.

Well me too, we've gone backwards.
I do hope that the Rovers aren't influencing us unduly in this experiment based on boring accountancy.
They have grand plans for us apparently.

| Both Carl and Paul have said this is the way they want to go, with youth, so not sure you can blame rovers. The start has been difficult, but there's been loads of changes and it's not going to come overnight. Season hasn't started yet, give them a chance, I'll give it a five or six games before I start to worry.

| OK, I won't post again until after the London game because we haven't fielded a side that has had to win yet, but I won't be worrying after six games, because I am worried right NOW.
We've already played four ... badly!
On the face of it we have played three Superleague teams, but we haven't, only in name.
We've played second level sides against which we should compete, if we are serious.
Also a newly promoted side that hammered us!
They've all hammered us.
This season sides in this league have a chance to compete for a Superleague place and that means for four of them they have to match or rather better those sides to make it.
And to me that means that these sides should certainly beat the Superleague second teams predominately.
That means those serious sides, like Leigh and others, will hammer our side.
I never felt like this last season and in fact we beat a lot of them, most of them in fact.
I can't see how in a season when other sides have geared up for this BIG challenge (and opportunity) we have done this.
So I won't post until we have some actual data. I will be back post London.
I have overdone the gloom and doom ... So farewell, time for a more positive view.

| You may well be proven right to be worried stand offish, time will tell, I don't think we will trouble the top, but am confident we will get better and be ok. Just an opinion of course.

| Wow this thread resembles so many on one the Rovers sites. Lack of money from the board, lack of ambition blah blah blah. Ok we may not set the Championship on fire but the folk running the club have my backing simply because the Coach and Mr Hall know what they are doing and in turn so does Gavin Baldwin.

| It's possible that we haven't seen any financial benefit from The Seagulls playing at the Keepmoat because they haven't yet.

Ding ding ding... Jemmo gets the Jackpot.
AFAIK, the first time any representative of the Seagulls had been at the Keepmoat on a matchday this season was on Sunday.

| Why not give Tom Holt a chance or is signing Local players just a token gesture ?

| I feel Tom Holt would be a good idea, looks fresh and ready to play when he played at Castleford

What if Carl & Paul say they want to go with youth because they have been told that money isn't available for players....
If that scenario was the case then you wouldn't come out and say that would you??
Just a thought....
I don't think for one second that PC and Carl wouldn't have loved a couple of marquee signings added into the youth mix...
