Our kicking game is pretty poor and our half backs not nippy enough to pose them enough problems.

The Dons played well and were unlucky to lose.We lost 18-24, but 18-18 would have been a fairer score.
I thought we helped them get most of what they got and the winning try was a cruel succession of missed tackles.

Yes very unlucky after a good display. The song they were playing as we were leaving the stadium summed it up, the one that got away.

Spurr & Leaf had big games today , we should have won . Gave away a silly penalty away for dissent & then the missed trip at the end cost us a least a draw.

Enjoyed the game until the last few minutes. The new prop did well also.

Game was there to be won and in my opinion lost thanks to two poor decison by Lee Waterman. Have position turned round under our own posts for discent and they score from the next set of 6. Then we were pressing hard towards the end and an impossible attempt at a field goal results in them moving down field and scoring a winning try!

Agree Leaf and Spurr had big games but all too no avail.

we lost it in the first 2 mins of 2nd half

how they never saw the trp i will never know, the linesman on that side never called a thing the whole match

Played well, but I would love to know who is making the calls out there.
Drop goal was stupid option, a grubber anything to pin back would have been better.
IMO it is no good giving Lee MOM, yes he had some big attacks, but, Dropped at Kick Off and then after holding out gives a penalty for talking back.....
Than seemingly decides on a drop goal, and even more daft is the pointles kick off, no short kick or anything madness...
For me when his team have run themselves to death he really let side down.
TM needs to get him sorted, had he just releaseD Stu after his brilliant break then we would have won that game...
Selfish and out of control at times.

Other than that some real positives against decent opposition and poor ref.
For me would not bother with any of the Dual Reg guys with exception of Cowling.
Gouldings abscence wasnot missed.

Can't disagree with any of Now Then's post. I guess Waterman puts himself in the positions to influence a game (no bad thing in my opinion) but self-discipline and giving away penalties will see us punished in this league, more so than last season. Man of the match for me was Chris Spurr.

Lets focus no the positives. I for one would have taken a bonus point at the start and the game.the fact we mixed it and came so close is a credit to everyone. Batley are a proven championship side. Bring on swinton

Fantastic effort from the boys today. How did the officials miss the trip on Grant which led to Grant picking up a knock and slowed down the play the ball leading to being under pressure with the drop goal attempt which ultimately led to their winning try. The team selection was spot on today and I thought that Leaf was my MOM due to his defence and the times he carted the ball forward. We will be safe this season and could even make the play offs. I will be there against York COYD

Come away from that game feeling pleasantly positive! A bonus point from a very good batley side is a lot more than anyone would have hoped for. Its a shame that the focus is on the trip towards the end.. Really ruined a good game of rugby league. Can't really single out any individual performances as i think all the team played well and really put themselves on the line. Bit unfair to single out lee as i actually think it was emmett that cost us the penalty for dissent. My only negative on him was not passing the ball to sanderson after his brilliant run.. But saying that we saw him trust himself to do it alone a lot last season and it worked 99% of the time. Looking forward to swinton now and hope we can build on this.

Tuffour's try saving, diving tackle on Campbell which saved a certain try was a gem.
In fact Dennis had a great game all round.
As did so many of the lads.

I think we scored 10/10 for application and effort on what was a terrible day.
We nullified to a large degree a better side.
I just thought we made some dumb decisions at times and weren't composed enough to keep Batley penned into their own half and put them under enough pressure.
I always thought that Batley stayed composed and didn't panic and had the edge in creativitity.
But they were there to be beaten, we weren't inventive enough to prises them open enough, although we played notably better with only one dual reg player in the side.

I note that Butts played exactly how dreamed he would, like a forward cum centre. He's found his niche, he had a cracker.
He's the new Carl Hughes already.



All in all a good game of rugby.
You would have thought that Batley had won the cup at the end what with their player booting the ball off the paddock into the stands.
He nearly took my head off!

Finally, well done the lads for bouncing back after the horrors of last week.
Their confidence is still intact.

Think the team proved that the team spirit that was such a success last season is going to be what gets them through this season. with only one dual reg (technically i don't class cowling as dual reg) and one loan player.

Hunslet away was awful and the second half against Leigh was a little disappointing but in truth we've not done too badly considering the step-up from C1. The score-lines against Dewsbury and Batley flatter the Rams and the Bulldogs and I saw enough on Sunday to be hopeful of taking something from a second visit to LSV.

if butts and leafy keep their place in team plus we can leep hold of josh i reckon 6 points is achievable , i felt before the batley game we woulddo very well to get a bonus point at the end i felt dissapointed we did not get a win or at least a draw so very well did the dons play the players must be gutted , except for a forward pass on their first try and lee being cought an inch short and a blatent trip we could easly have won the game , before the last two games i thought Roby was a decent ref no he is thierry alibert in disguise, rubbish coyd

the effort put in was excellent and we didnt miss the dual reg that were not playing
