| Well that will have certainly blown the cobwebs away, and some promising signs for the season ahead but we still look quite small upfront and tacklers need to take the legs as well as locking the ball. London made far ok many yards at every tackle because their legs were free.
When you think their second try came from a blatant forward pass, the third try came from one of a number of handling errors by Harris (thought his kicking game was excellent, pity about his poor handling skills), and London's fourth try came off the back of a row of silly unnecessary penalties, we have cause for optimism.
I now not everyone's favourite, but I was pleased to see Aaron Jones-Bishop have a decent run out, he looked quite solid on the right hand side.

| Quote ="Stand-Offish"16-22 final score.
Crowd 421
Half-time draw 201.
The game?
OK.
Most of what London got we gifted it to them.
Our response to their restarts was shockingly bad.
Mind you the weather was numbing.
Why weren't players wearing gloves?
Steptoe and Son.
The stand out players for us were Charlie Martin and Connor Scott.
The other imports like Richard Owen and Liam Harris who are supposed to be special were far from that, but not terrible.
The Hull imports just earned their corn without busting a gut.
I thought we looked a well organised side and we competed for the entire game.
But we tailed off a bit in the second half.
No trees were torn up today ... but given the weather I am fairly pleased.'"
I said you would be pleased with Connor Scott and Ross Osbourne (didnt play today) as they both had really strong games for Hull FC against HKR.
Dont know what happened but Jordan Lane,Ross Osbourne, and Jack Downs all played for Hull today when they were originally supposed to play for Doncaster today.

Thank you bonaire ... I can only suppose that we will be stronger with those lads.
Which is very encouraging.

Good point and in addition to this, why is Horne playing Liam Harris at scrum half when his best position is stand off? Surely you want what you think is your best team out on the park. Why doesn't Horne come on ITD and tell fans what is going on.

| Some positives today , thought Connor Scott had a decent game. We still lack a bit of grunt up front. Not bad considering the conditions .

| Fair play to London who put a strong side out (although how much out of 3rd or 4th gear they were remains to be seen), this fixture will have done us a world of good I'm a big advocate of a tough pre-season, we were ok nothing more but thought martin looked the stand out for us, think the game told us what we already knew in that we are woefully short on size and strength down the middle if we can address that and bring in a couple of meatheads I'm calling we won't be far off this season. oh and by the way s-o I was there in my fishnets and a rose between my teeth but couldn't find you!

| Decent first hit out today. Impressed with jacks kicking game and thought tali was solid in defence. Don’t think Owen did bad. Harris has a long way to go to impress me. Any truth in the rumour that kesiks had his captaincy stripped?

| Gary Thornton was at the game today ... scouting and spying no doubt.
Saw him up in the restaurant.
Fair play to him .. at least he was there.
Lots of other familiar faces weren't.
The apathy is palpable.

| enjoyed todays game, first half was much better than the second. the wind/rain /cold made it very difficult for both players and fans. I thought one or two players stood out today but quite a few were pretty average, On the whole tho, this was the first time we played as a group/team and we need a few games to gel. def, light up front but I think we have the makings of a good team. looking forward to next week. | I thought Jack Miller was good again.
I don't think him and Harris are a proper pair at halfback.
Too similar for a start.
As I have said before a taller player suits stand-off better for me.
Cooke, Holroyd etc
Still early days yet ...
There were times in that game that I wondered whether ruby is worth watching anymore.
London did everything but undress our players at the tackle and then once or twice nearly did that.
Terrible to watch and intended to stop Donny getting ANY momentum.
And the ref did exactly as the crowd did ... he just watched.
Nearly walked to be honest ..
It's beyond a joke!

Ridiculous decision. That isn’t a personal dig at Boyle. But does loyalty stand for nothing?

| I can understand RH looking at other options for the captaincy.
He will be looking to put his stamp on what is in effect his team , not one inherited from predecessors and one who's performances he will judged on.

| I'll just paste what I have written elsewhere:
As a supporter I value loyalty above all other qualities in a player. Kyle has shown that and therefore sets a good example as a genuine club man. His attitude to playing is never in doubt.
I imagine Boyle can be a good captain, he is experienced and knows the game, but he hasn't played a game for the club yet. This could turn a few against him before a ball is even kicked.

He played against Broncos on Sunday and if Jez Litten is as good as he is being made out to be,Kesik may not be playing regularly. Kesik may be a good choice as club captain but the team captain needs to be on the park to provide inspiration.

| Don’t for a second believe that to be the case. Without a doubt kesik would be the starting 9. If not he wouldn’t have been given the 9 shirt.

| A contentious decision or the correct one, hard to call. I get the loyalty aspect and all things Donny including testimonials but I just want us to kick on and get promoted. If some folk/players want to make an issue about it fair do's but its the Coaches job to pick who he thinks is right. Its his sword to fall on.

Not a case of making an issue I don’t think merely an observation? Didn’t realise there was players making N issue out of it either I must have missed that.

| New coach new ideas that's what we all wanted, we have been calling for a new identity and a fresh approach to things and appointing an experienced guy with plenty of super league surely makes sense, I like kes though and still think he will be vocal and a leader when on the pitch so I don't think an armband will change his approach.

No don't get me wrong on this I'm not saying you meant it as an issue and I take your point regarding the playing staff. It was a wrong statement to make on my part.
