| Had an enjoyable evening in town yesterday including bumping into Stand-Offish (not literally of course) and his good lady outside Cask Corner. The following were enjoyed during the course of the evening;
Thorne Dunstons Ships (Gatehouse)
Toad Mature Toad & Fulstow Fulstow Common (Cask Corner - first visit)
Batemans XB (Salutation)
Yorkshire Grey BB (Yorkshire Grey)
then back to Cask Corner for Bottles of Floris Apple, Floris Honey and Floris Chocolat (Belgian) from their 100 bottled beers from around the world.

| Jaipur in the Sal last night and Milestone IPA on my first visit to Cask Corner. In between I had a Vindaloo ... or was it Findaloo?
My wife had Blue Monkey BG Sips in the Corner cask, I wish I had chosen that one too.

Scott is my ex's son (although I've known him since he was about 1-y-o). Pleased that you liked the Toad beer, I'm quite partial to the Tadpole and the Mature Toad. Hope the drive to MK was without issue.

It did ... no probs.
I always get the Scott bit wrong ... I've logged it in my brain now ... so here's hoping.

| just got back from an amazing time at manchester pride. Paddys Goose which is a gay bar in the village has two cask ales, one is a well known one.
The other i had never heard of before. and wow one of the nicest ales ever. UNICORN and made by Robinsons brewery. the landlord tells me they are a stockport based brewery. The drink has become so popular that they dont rotate that particular beer any more and keep it on permently.
i must have had ten pints of it on monday alone!!!

| Nearly forgot ...
Bank Holiday Monday (just passed) called in a couple of pubs in the Horbury area.
First Boons at Horbury where I sampled a very nice brew, High House Farm Brewery 5th Anniversary Ale, a dark ruby coloured caramel flavoured mild ... very nice. The pub itself is sport-themed with Cricket and Wakefield Trinity memorabilia on the walls.
Next down to Horbury Bridge and the Bingley Arms (which had live music to the rear of the pub). Situated between the River Calder and the Aire and Calder Navigation, it was very enjoyable sat outside with a pint of Black Sheep on the canalside watching the artists.

| Spent yesterday afternoon in and around Holmfirth and as you would expect, that included a couple of drinks;
Visited the Rose & Crown, more popularly known as The Nook and home of the Nook Brewhouse, and tried their Best Bitter 4.2%.
Later, visited the Farmers Arms and had a very nice Sunday Lunch complete with a pint of Abbot Ale.

| Only stumbled across the corner cask place in town yesterday (been under the beer radar for a while). And what a place! Hope it gets the support in town to keep going!
Also noticed you can take your own food in as long as your drinking there

Obviously, I concur with those sentiments. The first couple of weekends we went in people would look in (as if to say 'what's that, I didn't know that was there') but then walk on ... the last couple of weekends people are thankfully venturing in. They are currently in the process of getting upstairs completed too so there will be even more seating.

Yes, it is all very well being bohemian and having a 'work in progress, so please make allowances' approach.
But it's not that attractive to a lot of folk, decor-wise.

One pint per week and the discount more than pays for CAMRA membership.

| Been to North Devon over the weekend. Sampled a very nice pint of Teignworthy Golden Sands on the patio of the Beaver Inn at Appledore. Great views across the Taw and Torridge estuaries and out towards the Bristol Channel. Best pint of the weekend at the George in Braunton at £2 a pint was the 3.7%-with-taste Cousin Jack ( not sure why this pub isn't in the GBG ) brewed by St Austell. Visited the Hunters Inn in Heddon Valley, an idyllic spot between Ilfracombe and Lynmouth and a very busy beer festival. Luckily, there's a National Trust car park nearby. Sampled a refreshing pint of Otter Amber. Well worth a visit if you're in the area despite the narrowness and steepness of the road in and out. The Sunday lunches looked like they would sate a Yorkshire appetite
Only disappointment was the Black Lion at Braunton. Not a fan of gravity beers anyway, but was served a very unexciting and warm pint of St Austell Tribute there. Wouldn't recommend.

| Had a very nice pint of Old Bear Brewery (Keighley) Hibernator 5.0% last Sunday in the Fox & Goose at Hebden Bridge ... a lovely ruby red malty winter warmer.
Also dropped in at the wonderful Old Bridge Inn at Ripponden ... the only down side being my choice of drink. Went for John Eastwood Best Bitter but in all honesty it was a golden IPA and not what I would call a Best.
