this season has gone well beyond my expectations, once we settled and got into the swing of this division.

i thought we would be struggling in the bottom 4

i think we have coped really well this second half of season

Bad news on the injury front Chris Spurr out for the rest of the season due to a hand injury . Chris has had a good season again . I wonder if Chris has played his last game for the club ?

To be honest Geoff, the club have tried, and the game has been advertised on local Radio, and Radio Sheffield have done the build up from the Sheffield end.

Everyone within the club has tried to get the message out about the game.

That's bad news about Chris Spurr he is one of our better players. I have always been a fan of Chris, always gives his all and he knows where to be on Cooke's shoulder for tries.

I think we ought to have a good go at Sheffield and at least get a point.

Chris still managed a try also , think Trout will replace him with Leaf on the bench.
Hope Butts is fit , he has been playing well, Waterman to move to FB if out.

I think Weighman should walk around the town centre & market place with a sandwich board advertising the home games & season ticket offers.

Doncaster Rugby League Club will play their second home game of the week when they lock horns with local rivals Sheffield Eagles at the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday (3:00pm kick-off).

It will be head coach Tony Miller's last league game in charge at the Keepmoat and his side will be aiming for a second win in just four days ahead of the Kingstone Press Championship play-offs. Miller's side beat York City Knights 38-20 on Wednesday to confirm their place in the top eight and sent the Knights down in the process.

The blue and gold's only need one more point to guarantee them a home tie in the play-offs as they are two points ahead of Dewsbury and Workington and have a far superior points difference. Dewsbury and Workington both have difficult away trips at Leigh and Halifax respectively in their final games.

Sheffield Eagles' 40-24 midweek defeat against Featherstone Rovers means they no longer top the Championship table and the Eagles will be hoping that relegation threatened Hunslet do them a favour when they play Rovers on Sunday.

Miller will check on his squad's fitness over the weekend ahead of this mouth-watering South Yorkshire derby but Chris Spurr will miss the rest of the season after a tendon in his finger became detached on Wednesday night. The back rower, who has had a great season with the club, has since had an operation to put it back in place.

Wakefield dual registration duo Danny Cowling and Kyle Trout are included in the Dons squad but Mick Butterfield has been ill since the Knights game and could miss out. Stewart Sanderson and Shaun Leaf have therefore been added to the 18 man squad.

Miller said: "We knew York would make it difficult for us on Wednesday as they were fighting for their lives but I was delighted with the way we fought back and it was another good win for us.

"We've had a tremendous season and we've done far better than anyone expected and I'm really pleased for the boys who have worked hard all year.

"Sheffield will come to the Keepmoat with a point to prove and will be hoping results elsewhere go their way but we need to concentrate on the job in hand and put in a strong performance against a very good team."

Sheffield will be determined to maintain the pressure on Featherstone by securing the three points on offer and Eagles' head coach Mark Aston has targeted Grand Final glory. Aston said: "After Doncaster we'll focus in on the play-offs. We like to be on the big stage.

"The Grand Final experience last year was sensational and the boys have set themselves the challenge of doing it again."

Please note there will be a Dons v Eagles master's game before the main event which starts at 2:00pm. Former Dons players who have confirmed to play in this curtain raiser include Neil Turner, Kev Jones, Fata Sini, Gavin Morgan, Chris Hemmings, Wayne Green and last season's double winners and local lads Dean Colton and Craig Lawton.

The club are holding another one day season ticket offer at this weekend's game to celebrate their success in reaching the play-offs. Dons' chief executive Carl Hall said: "We've exceeded our expectations in reaching the play-offs and we'd like to extend our season ticket offer for another day at the Sheffield game.

"It also gives the chance for those who were on holiday or unable to make the Swinton game for whatever reason to buy their 2014 season ticket at a cracking price."

Adults and concessions season tickets are priced £120, while existing Dons4Life members can pay £100. Children's (5-16's) season tickets are just £15. Fans wanting to buy season tickets tomorrow can download an application form from the Dons website and take it to box 16. Payment is possible in cash or cheque.

There will also be speeches and a presentation for the departing head coach Miller in the main restaurant and a disco will follow these proceedings. It all adds up to a cracking afternoon of top quality rugby league and there's still a lot to play for in this final league game. Make sure you don't miss derby day at the Keepmoat on Sunday - be there!

You seem to forget that the Dons were just 48 hrs.from going bust & if it hadn't been for myself & Dave Hiller driving over to a hotel near Derby the night before Christmas Eve to have a meeting with Peter Bentley & persuading him to relinquish his share holding & loans he had given to the Dons you wouldn't have a team to support today.I have a copy of the document Peter Bentley signed if you want evidence of what I'm telling you is fact. I could also provide you with a list of things I have done for the club that you don't even know about. I have won two national awards for the work I have done in my time supporting the Dons.

Is there any chance that this spat can be moved from this section. I thought this thread was for the Eagles game and not about who has done what and when. It's bloody boring and IMO not neccessary on TM's last game in charge (normal season).
