I've just spoken with Shaun, this new 'story' from the hack at the Sun is the first he has heard about being charged and being banned from the game for a possible 18 mths. He is absolultey gutted about this latest news about the 'SunSport's explosive rugby league betting expose'. No one from the RFL has been in touch with regards the latest developments and quite frankly he has had enough and wants it all over and done with. He has met with, and fully co-operated with the RFL investigators throughout the investigation and this latest story has come out of the blue.

Usual Sun newspaper talking e, it makes me wonder why people buy this pile of tripe.

I find it more worriying that the Scum claims to have "sources" at the Rugby League Headquarter at Red Hall.

Based on the fact that the sun keeps publishing random updates with no actual facts at what point can and will the club be able to publicise / make a statement?

Just getting frustrating - let's just hope Leaf has had his phone hacked that way we should at least get some compensation. Glass houses and all that....

League Weekly reports this morning that Shaun Leaf has been formerly charged over allegations of illegal betting. The RFL are said to be currently in the process of arranging the date for Shaun to appear before a judge-led tribunal at RFL headquarters.

The report adds that a number of charges have been brought of breaching the game's operational rules and betting code of conduct plus misuse of privileged information.

Shaun (it states) has co-operated fully with the inquiry which is expected to go in his favour in terms of any sentancing.

Leaf's former teammate David Bates, reported to have been present when the Sun recorded their 'secret' footage, has so far resisted all attempts by the RFL to assist with the enquiry.

Both players are currently suspended from playing by the RFL.

Heard that Leafy is possibly up for his hearing this week. Lets hope that the RFL deal with this with dignity and respect and not be influenced by the reports from the Scum newspaper.

I personally think he has been punished enough whilst on suspension, just hope the person who stitched him up gets punished but i doubt it.

Think i can speak for most Doncaster fans in wishing him all the luck.

Whatever the outcome, the sooner this is resolved the better for all concerned. I don't envy Shaun having had this hanging over him for the biggest part of 3 months.

Hope I'm wrong but have a bad feeling about the outcome. I really do not trust the powers that be to see it for what it was. Got my fingers crossed for Leafy because he is and always will be a top lad IMO. I really do wish him all the best and hope he's back some time in the Dons colours.
