You have some good individual players, could and should've won the match, but what struck me was as a team you weren't working together. Too many chiefs etc. Also, and apologies if any of those players were genuinely injured, but you seemed to go into 'closing out the game' mode too early, I counted either 3 or 4 Doncaster players who went down injured in the 2nd half only to get back up and seem absolutely fine after a break, plus kicking into touch so early on in the 2nd half. If the players worked with each other a bit more and you'd tried to score rather than counting down the clock, it would've been a 10-12 point Doncaster victory because York looked vulnerable at times. A huge improvement on the earlier season 16-8 defeat though.
I don't think either team can claim the ref was biased. Bizarre decisions both ways, thought York were lucky to get the penalty leading to the last try, but likewise why was it a penalty to Doncaster when Siddons was pushed over by a Doncaster player? I think that led to Doncasters 1st or 2nd try. In the refs defence, he tried to keep the game flowing.
Good turnout from Doncaster fans, I reckon 200+ Doncaster fans there, I have your average home league crowd as 565 so it's strange your home crowds are fairly poor when you brought possibly the 2nd or 3rd biggest away following to York this season.. Would be a great advert for Yorkshire if both teams met in the playoff final in front of an even bigger crowd. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
Given what was at stake this must represent a good result. Of course it would have been even better had that last penalty gone over the bar rather than hitting the woodwork but it is now all to play for against Newcastle next weekend. Newcastle seem to have been a bit of a bogy team for us in the last couple of seasons but, Keighley apart, their recent results have not been great and we are probably playing with more cohesion than when we lost to them a few weeks ago. Let's hope a few of our stayaway fans make the effort to turn up and support the team.
Some good points by the Cas fan about the penalties & the ref .
More I think about it we should have won & deserved to , when we were leaving the ground a York fan said we should have won by 20 points .
Going back to penalty the Dons got when one of our players pushed a York player back into the ruck, the guy should not have been there but a lot of refs would not have us a penalty . The ref levelled matters up when he gave a penalty against Hedges which appeared to be wrong .
