Former Dons firey hooker Ronnie Wileman as pssed away at the age of 55
Ronnie signed for York in 1973 and made 86 appearances for them scoring 17 tries, in 1979 he was signed by Hull FC & he scored the match winning try in the 1980 Challenge Cup semi final against Widnes which gave his team a place in the final at Wembley against Hull KR.
Unfortunately a high tackle by Wileman early in the first half broke Roger Millwards jaw. Ronnie made 87 appearances for Hull & scored 23 tries in 1984 in joined the Dons on loan and he was sent off in the first two games for the Dons and was banned for a total of 16 matches he ended his career as coach of Grimethorpe ARLFC.
Good old fashioned hooker was Ronnie, never knew him to take a backward step either for York or Hull, Gods got one hell of a team up there, R.I.P. Ronnie.
I played against him when he was player/coach at Goldthorpe. The dirtiest player I ever played with or against, but I wouldn't have minded him in my team. 55 is no age.
