Normally when I've had a bit of time to think about things I tend to calm down, but this is just making me more mad.

To be honest, I don't really mind all that much about the other three but ditching Thacks ahead of a game in which we had a decent chance of picking up three points is simply crazy.

Would never have happened then though. Not saying good or bad deal... Depend on cost tbh!

I wonder if it will affect the way some players think about this club?

I’m afraid that they are thinking of themselves, rather than the long term damage they could be doing to the club.

Pepe , there is 1.8 million pounds worth of reasons as to why players will still be interested in coming here. Let's not forget what really makes the world go round and we've plenty of cap going spare.

As critical as I've been of late of those in charge of recruitment I don't actually think today is particularly bad. At least it's something of a shakeup. The timing of it is strange and I do feel for Thacks as he has provided us with some great attacking flair despite my previous posts on his general ability.

Maybe, maybe not. The better players will have several options. They’re the ones we want, isn’t it?

They may take a look at the way we have treated, otherwise decent and loyal players and say [i"NO! I’ll go to the other club instead".[/i I ing would, in that position.

I’m sure we’ll get plenty of takers from players with fewer options – that will be the players we probably don’t really want anyway.

I think it was a bit harsh, considering it is partly his fault, and it won’t do the players any favours when looking for a new club.

This will be noted by players. Perhaps a few years down the line it won’t matter so much, but it probably will now. Even if it puts just one good player off, that could be the difference between being competitive or basement dwelling in Super League. We may have to offer players more than we otherwise would have needed to, to get him here instead of elsewhere?

Either way, the way this has been done is quite pathetic – it really is.

But in a way the 4 who are not wanted in SL are now first in the market for either a contract next season with another club or going to another club now on a transfer, rather than waiting till the end of the season and then not being offered a contract.

Obviously quite a few of the first team players knew they were not going to be in the SL squad.

What Betts said about them, in the Echo, won't help them with getting another club. Plus, it smacked of [i"It's not me, it's all their fault. Blame them!".[/i

Quite bizzare decision , only one conclusion , an attempt to apportion blame and deflect it away from your real problem , so what happens if things dont improve ovr the next 3/4 games ? , another 4 go ?



Still as long as you've got Dave Allen still there you'll be alright



As they have been ' released ' , they would be free to sign for another Championship club wouldn't they ? , oh dear , whats the odds at least one of them comes back to haunt you ?

I wouldn't mind seeing Thackeray at Barrow. Might be just the tonic to boost our under-performing bunch.
Although I've obviously seen him a few time, as Widnes fans, ho do you rate his kicking game ??

The thing that puzzles me is that your heirachy instantly go out and bring in a Wigan kid. Surely one of your own should be given a chance - at least for a few games. These young players are going to have to step up to SL from next year to make the first team, so it would make sense to give them game time in the Championship surely.

In fairness to the club we are struggling a little in the halves so I can understand this dual regger more than the previous two where we did have kids ready. Grant Gore had his first game back for the reserves on Saturday and it seemed to take it out of him a hell of a lot so he ain't ready yet. Gilmore injured still and I don't think the others in the reserves will step up nor the ones in 18's ready yet.

Starry as I see it they are free to negotiate elswhere but are still contracted. Just won't be considered for the first team.

FWIW Dave Allen will get a SL deal. Of that I am in no doubt regardless of his massive drop in form. TOC is too much of a fan of his.

I don't think for one minute that Widnes will be relegated. However, picture this scenario. In July, Halifax get a SL license and Wakefield and Cas are dumped out ....

Then, the Championship bottom 5 at the end of the season looks like this ...

7. Barrow
8. York
9. Widnes (going into SL)
10. Halifax (going into SL)
11. Toulouse (Exempt from relegation)

This scenario would mean that Barrow and York would be relegated into Championship 1 !!! I know there may well be yet another re-structure next season, but this is how ludicrous the Licensing system can be.

In August Wakefield win the Challenge Cup and in Super League Castleford are surprise Grand Final winners.

Not really no , it's quite sad really , you should be kicking the SL door down , instead it looks like you'll be asking Nigel to leave a key under the mat when the season ends and sneaking in when it's gone dark

I don't think anyone would disagree that his kicking game isn't his strong point mate.
