Everytime he came onto the pitch, no matter which team he played for, they got worse.

You have to be incredibly naive to think that Gannon (who has a decent disciplinary record) is in the scrum one minute and then just decides to throw a couple of punches..
Something goes on between Gannon and McDermott so there is room for it to be argued that Gannon retaliates.. The referee got it completely right to send both players off for 10 minutes to calm down rather than ruining the game.
You do seem to have Barrow tainted spectacles on to think that Gannon just wades in without any provocation.

As others have said on here the Barrow tactic was the same tactic you used up at Craven park which was to try and rough-house us from the off.. Your coach got it completely and utterly wrong and knackered you for the rest of the game.. The major difference this time is that we have a pack that can deal with that now and both you and your coach seriously sound whingy for complaining when the opposing team stands up for itself.

If you have a problem with the RFL's decision then appeal and take it through the correct process rather than crying in the papers about how hard done to you were.. if you want to play rough.. we'll play rough.. if you want to play classy.. we'll match you at that too..

To be honest I thought he was getting a bit better just before he left and definately had a hard time due to him being one of our main props whilst we had the injury crisis early on in the season. We also weren't training together as a team at the time so that could be used in his defence also.

Now that this is the case you can see how much some of the players have improved!

He does have a tendency to give away daft balls with silly penalties or knock ons but he is young and could go on to develop..

Am I gutted to see him go.. not really and it doesn't bother me that he has gone to Barrow.. good luck to them and him.




Interestingly enough.. how much money do these guys have to spend?? Rooney and now Thompson and Devious Des is talking about more coming in.. haven't seen much in the way of other players leaving either??

Sadly for Sam, never really worked out for him here, hopefully the new challenge can revitalise him and help him push on. Good luck mate.

If Widnes players never got the better of Barrow players physically, as you posted on Total RL, then you deserve what you got.

The Barrow coach,whatever his name is,failed to do his homework on us properly and used the wrong tac tics.He thought our pack was a soft touch just like back in May when they won at our place but we have moved on since then and he must have failed to see it.A wiser approach would have been to play us at football .

Sod em, they tried to take heads off and failed dismally, We are original cup kings, first official club champions of the world, last club side to beat Australia, Reigning European and NRC champions, oh and not to miss off the James Edwards trophy thingy at xmas.

Barrow come out at Blackpool the intention of bullying Widnes and intimidating them out of the game. This is fair enough and it worked on our previous two meetings.

This time they were handed their ar5es back on a plate and now have players facing the rod of the RFL.

If you are going to use these tactics, you need to be clever and , more importantly, tougher than the opposition. They were neither.

Tough 5hit. Barra fans need to deal with it, instead of crying on here at Widnes fans about how unfair it all is.

It's fine.. they tried to outmuscle us one too many times.. it reminds me of playing Cas in 2007.. We won the first couple but Cas soon learned what we were about as we have done with Barrow. Rooney will make a difference but they look like they are continuing to build in their forwards..

If their pack try to bully us again they'll get mashed again. We will have Grayshon back for that game, and that will counter the return of Catic, so they'll really be up against it now.

They should just concentrate on playing and laying a platform for the likes of Rooney, Finch, Cambell, Nixon and Harrison. If they do that they might just win.




But then again....

It's real double whammy that one.

Their coach ballsed up big time.They never wanted the ball from the KO in the first half when they returned it but from the KO in the second half they suddenly wanted possesion.

Don't talk sh*t mate. Mashed ? That is what we did to you at your place. You lot couldn't even put 40 on a side that wasn't at full strength and were out on its feet. Lets wait until August when both sides are at full strength and see what happens eh ?

I will admit 1 thing though - Cullen and his staff completely out foxed our coaching team, I hope they learn from it.
