Those kind of games show if your team has the stomach for a fight and the will to tough it out. You lacked almost as much of that as you did skill level. If I was to judge your team from the first 5 games i would still think it was below average and likely to finish bottom. As for Betts.. oh dear. I hope you improve because on the whole you are a good bunch and it wouldnt be good for the game for you to get spanked every week

| I did feel sorry for your lot in those terrible conditions, but it was no worse than when I have stood at: Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford in the peeing down rain. It must have been even worse having to endure those conditions whilst watching the performance Widnes put in. However, being rained on e.t.c and getting a thumping by another team in the process (which has happened to us on occasion), did not make me jump on the board and have a go about said teams ground. We have improved our ground massively, and it has already been said, that next season you will have a shiny new stand to go in, and hopefully you and other teams will then bring some more travelling support. We have so far delivered on our promises as a club and continue to deliver continuous ground improvements in extremely difficult financial times.
On a final note, as someone has stated, those conditions should have put the game on more of a level, so really, it's not going to get much easier for Widnes. Wishing you more luck for the rest of the season (except when you play us of course ).

| I doubt the new stand will make a difference in similar conditions as it was driving from the South, so you would have still have got wet, as you would at ANY ground, new or old.

| We played with the conditions in the first half, so they would have been covered as it was coming from behind them

| Meh. I stood on uncovered terraces at loads of grounds for the first 10 years of my time watching RL. Now we have summer rugby and all-seater stadia, but while I can't say I miss the winter season so much as I used to, I do increasingly miss the old grounds. Proper RL grounds.
You still stand uncovered in at least some part of Headingley, Wheldon Road, Odsal and Belle Vue too. Times must change I suppose, but I'll miss the old-school grounds when they're gone or just modernised out of all recognition.
Buy a warm coat, is my advice. Used to work OK for me.

| The board at HKR should take into account that Away fans have to travel Wigan/Warrington/Saints /Salford /Widnes
have about 2 hours ride along the M62 and the same back, the last thing you need is getting wet through and having to sit in wet gear on the way home .Rovers want to get to a 10.000 gate to do that they have to encourage away fans to come .and that means keeping them dry .The 5 teams stated, you are under cover if it rains ,They Boards have done something about it

All their boards have done something about it with a fair amount of help from commercial backers, and crucially their local authorities.
What you wouldn't want is a situation where two clubs in one city inhabited older grounds, but only one of them got the chance to move into a new state-of-the-art stadium with the football team, with loads of council backing, while one got very little help from the council.
Know any cities where that would happen?

No, where did this happen? It certainly never happened in Hull. Both rugby league clubs were invited to move to the KC stadium when it was built.

WE WERE OFFERED THE KC STADIUM TOO AT THE TIME AND DECLINES
ALSO, SOME OF THE FUNDING FOR OUR NEW STAND IS FROM THE COUNCIL FROM AN INTEREST FREE LOAN
COUCIL ALSO HELPED IN THE 90S WHEN WE WERE IN FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY. THEY ALSO OWN THE LAND AND CHARGE US A VERY CHEAP RATE
CRAVEN PARK IS ONLY ABOUT 22/23 YEARS OLD
NOT EXACTLY TRUE YOUR STATEMENT SILLY

You mean like promising a 14k capacity for 2010, that kind of spin?

You won't get wet at the KC. All under cover, all seated and all welcome.

I don't know of ANY cities were that would happen and it certainly did'nt happen in Hull.
Rovers had the chance to move into the new stadium but turned it down. They turned it down because Paul Caddick promised to upgrade their ground and invest in the club. If Rovers had come on board the new stadium would have been located in the Sutton Road area (East). Unfortunately for Rovers Caddick pulled out and you were stuck with what you have got. You get a lot of help from the council, including a peppercorn rent and a new 6.5Million grant. They got the land for their "stadium" from the council for virtually nothing (some of which they sold on to Kwiksave!). The above post is so far from the truth it's laughable, but typical.
My apologises to Widnes fans for this post but these Dobbins have no idea what actually did happen with regards the KC stadium, they need to be told.

Spot on matey I was talking to the Ex Councilor in Morrison about this and he said nearly word for word .Matt is a big Rovers fan and he spoke to the Rovers board at the time. He stated it would be in their best interest to go with the other 2 Hull Clubs .But they still turn it down .Matt still say it's HKR biggest mistake

We were offered a ground share at a ground in West Hull, which in my opinion would ultimately have led to an attempted merger, we've fought that in the past and don't want to go down that road again. When I think how hard we have fought to be in the position we are in now, I am grateful that we even have a ground! Our ground is far from perfect, but it's our home and I would not swap it for your shiney stadium. Once the new North Stand is up and eventually the South end is developed we will have a nice little stadium, I then look forward to welcoming away supporters in their thousands ..... or at least listening to a different excuse

Absolute garbage, check archives. There were 3 sites mooted at the time with the favoured one (if Rovers had come on board) being Sutton road area. As I said earlier you backed out because Paul Caddick had promised to invest in your club and upgrade your ground, he backed out (went to Leeds) and left you high and dry. The amount of Dobbins that believe otherwise is astonishing, but typical.

The main thing that was holding up Rovers moving from the Old Craven Park Holderness road was the Bus Garage the front was on the listed Buildings list and one night it got knock down.An inquiry was under taken but nobody took the blame for it has nothing could be proven .I attended the Inquiry at the time I was the Busmen rep for TGWU .Rovers was well paid for that move plus they were given the Poor House lane .Sorry to upset the Widnes fans but help has been given to Rovers what they Board did with the help is for the fans of Rovers to sort out and open they eyes to what when on
