All opinions in that statement, no fact at all. Didn't spend the full cap and even moreso when Webster left we didn't replace him.
O'Connor has had time to implement strategies and business plans, it's not something he's just thrown money at and hoped for the best, it's been smart business planning, people like that in sport are few and far between.

All opinions, apart from your club confirming you have been spending the full cap, and thanks to SOC you have the infustructre like you do at the club.

Ah, but he doesn't count, because he signed for us, just like Rooney did for Barrow. These are not my rules. They are the Barrow fan’s very own rules.

| Quote ="Pepe"Every time Barrow fans whine about last seasons loan signings at Widnes, and their sheer hypocrisy is pointed out to them - with regards to Rooney being a loan signing - they always say, “well, we eventually signed him so that doesn’t count .”
Well I’m doing the same. If they want to argue against this, then they will have to face the charge of hypocrisy again and admit that Barrows league win was unfair.
They can’t have it both ways.

It's the one thing that winds me up and it gets trotted out all the time... 'you only won it because of your SL loanees!!!'
Quite probably...
When you ask the question why they didn't just do the same you get nothing back.. or if you ask the question how was this against the rules?? again nada!!!!

| The fact that Widnes haven't won the league means jot all.
All these people calling for a return to P & R don't know what they're talking about. They see the situation as a simplistic one where Halifax have performed best and should go up. It's ignorant of the real facts, mainly that they are not the rules that have been in place for the last 2 years. Winning the league means nothing under this system if you haven't addressed the areas that you are supposed to. It's like a team moaning about not being classed as the best team in the land any more despite topping the League, when everybody else is concentrating on winning the Grand Final.
Anyway those advocating a return to P & R would have only a few options in the real world,
A) A return to full P & R where the salary cap remains at 300k. This would mean that teams such as Hunslet and even London Skolars could win promotion to SL simply with somebody putting a few hundred k into the club. It also means that a club like Leeds could get relegated and find it incredibly difficult to come back up as they would be spending the same on players as almost all the other clubs in the division. This basically makes it a lottery and one that in a worst case scenario could see Leeds, Wigan, Wire, Hull and Saints relegated within 5 years at the expense of Batley, Hunslet, Swinton, Rochdale and London Skolars.
B) A return to partial P & R where the RFL judge the teams that can come up but the cap remains at 300k. This means that they could veto many of the clubs and in fact all but about 4 would probably be vetoed. It still leaves the possibility of one of RL's strongest clubs being banished to the Championship and finding it extremely difficult to ever get out of it.
C) An increase to the cap with either of the above possibilities. This would benefit the richest clubs with the best resources who would be able to go full time. As Widnes are the richest club with the best resources we would be favourites to come up. Every relegated club would then be favourites to come straight back up, as we saw from 1998-2008.
D) A scrapping of the cap with either A or B. This would benefit the richest clubs with the best resources who be able to go full time. As Widnes are the richest club with the best resources we would be favourites to come up. Every relegated club would then be favourites to come straight back up, as we saw from 1998-2008.
So for those we advocate a return to P & R, which would it be? One that damages RL or one that almost guarantees Widnes would come up anyway?
What these muppets who talk about Widnes not deserving a place don't realise is that the cap severely hinders Widnes on the field and doesn't allow us to use our better resources than other clubs. Playing to a cap of 300k means nothing as to how you will do in SL, it goes up by over ÂŁ1m in SL. At the moment the league is basically a test of which clubs coach can win the Championship on 300k a year, as most clubs spend up to it. This is not a good judge of whether a club will do well in SL anymore than going fully amateur and competing in the same way would.

It should be P&R with the cap set at a percentage of the clubs' turn over.
Simples.

| My God I think for once we agree!!!!
Would have to include SL aswell and be based on the previous years turnover and include a minimum for the teams rising from the lower leagues. Perhapes you could use the 300k cap as the minimum level for the Championship. That would allow teams who failed to generate a large turnover the previous year to strenghten as more funds become available during the season.

But can't you see how this would inevitably mean that Widnes would dominate the league?
We only finish 5th because the cap is at such a low level. Therefore it is no way to judge a clubs viability for Super League. All Fax and Barrow have managed to show in the last 3 years is that they are the best at competing on a 300k budget. This would mean little in Super League.
Widnes have proved that we have the best crowds, the best youth, the best finances and we already had the best stadia. This means a lot in SL.

Not really as turnover figures can be ' adjusted ' to suit , maybe on profit ?
Oh hang on though , the other year you made a million loss , that would mean the players would have to pay you to play for you

Just like to point out he's as much a Quins supporter as I am a Vikings fan, he's banned from our board and is now banned site wide for the use of that word.
