You just need to do the basics against us mate..
Man for man and you will do a good job of keeping us at bay.
Our first try should have paved the way. Good movement off the ball and a couple of options provided to the man with the ball in hand... then back to normal. Slow looped passes and wasted efforts of trying to bulldozer our way over against 3 or 4 waiting forwards.
On at least 3 or 4 occasions we even had a complete set of 6 in which our forwards didn't even touch the ball. Flynn was knackered at the end as was Gaskell.

| I'm really starting to get irritated with Wildbore. It's as if he doesn't care unless there's the chance for him to score a try. To be honest I wasn't convinced by any of the backs except for Gaskell and Flynn.

I agree.. how many times do you need to talk to a team before you decide they aren't listening and send a man to the bin..
Even against 12 we wouldn't have scored!!! 11 probably not.. 10.. we might have nicked one..

| Something has got to change. We started brightly, actually throwing the ball about and getting an early score. But then it's back to 'one man rugby'. It's getting all too predictable. Cullen was supposedly the man to get us playing an attacking style of rugby, but nothing seems to have changed. The fact that our 2 wingers are making the yards instead of the forwards is unbelievable. Our inability to finish off chances is coming back to bite us. I counted at least 2 times in the second half where we should have finished with a score. It was also noticable that our defensive line does not move up. Too many times are the tacklers stood there waiting for the opposing forwards to hit them. Something needs to be done, quickly.
Not an enjoyable match, dogged by penalties for both sides. Good attendance though.

I wouldn't say it was boring at any point as it was always in the balance
Boring was couple of years back when you were all going home at half time , or when you nilled us at ours
We basically were more up for it in the last quarter

| I think there are two ways to look at today's game.
Firstly, which is the one I prefer to subscribe to, was that it was a good, old fashioned, cracking derby match ,which either side could have won and Leigh's defence probably won the game (for once) with excellent effort and (at least) two last ditch defensive effots, which stopped almost certain Widnes tries. Two teams put everything into that today and okay it wasn't open rugby, but sometimes it doesn't have to be to be entertaining. It's about the drama.
Secondly, we could say that there were two very average teams on show today, and sorry Widnes fans, you are a bit delusional to think that you are that much better than Leigh. I'm affraid Halifax and Barrow will be the standout teams this season.
Irrespective, I thoroughly enjoyed today's game, probably morte than any this season. The win was icing on the cake which I didn't expect and with 10 minutes to go would have been happy with a point.
Anyway that's the way I saw it.

| Quote ="moz88"The most annoying thing about today was probably the fact that Leigh were crap. We had a lead for nearly 75% of the game yet couldn't capitalise and take the game by the scruff of the neck just like Fax last week. How frustrating is Loz Wildborne?
And loving Doran with his constant 'giving away penalties', he has obviously been speaking to Koe Love. Useless, and we can't even blame the ref. Shocking. Forwards weren't too much to blame, but we still deffo need the muscle up front, ie Morrison. Ostick was Ok along with Kavannagh and Thompson when he came on, but we just didn't create anything at all today. FFS Marsh>Thackray. Embarrassing.
Also like to congratulate the Widnes fans for really lifting the players when they needed it the most.'"
I've not been to Widnes since 2005. I always remembered that the atmosphere and banter between our two set of fans at your gaff was always good. What has happened the Widnes fans? Have you all lost your voices? As you said you were leading for most of the game yet I didn't hear a peep out of the home fans all game.

I think 'awkward' is a good word to use in that situation - that's how it felt when we lost to Batley and can certainly understand it being the same for your lot today. Why get behind your side when they clearly can't be bothered?
Anyroad, as you can imagine, I'm absolutely bloody chuffed with the performance both on and off the field - Leigh fans really got behind the lads, and that was something I wasn't confident about pre-match, while our forwards worked their nads off, particularly Armistead and Hill when they stayed on the field despite their injuries.
I think the execution of both sides was poor, but that doesn't neccesarily make it a bad game - I thought it was far too closely fought for it to be boring, and the last ten minutes were just an onslaught on your line, which I actually thought would end in defeat when we lost possession on 78 minutes.
A contest that will be added to the list of Leigh-Widnes thrillers as far as I'm concerned, the game was on a knife edge throughout.

| We were awful today ive got to say i was really bored im slowly losing the will to live watching widnes these days and im sorry to say that.
Gannon, Ostick and Flynn were the only ones really getting into the game today, Mark smith did nothing again but he seems to have been like that for about 2 seasons maybe time to give Brett Robinson a go a hooker. Loz Wildbore has been the most disappointing signing so far very selfish needs to learn there are 12 other players in the team with him.
we were clueless and had no idea going forward what so ever we really are becoming very boring to watch.
