Saints were winning the ruck and were dominating the tackle, therefore the ptb was slower; it was good play from Saints. Hudds did it to us last week, they physically dominated the floor so we had a slow ptb.

Clarke's binning is now a complete mystery to me. It was ok while I had the team warning theory but after seeing the brawl again I can't for the life of me imagine what was in the heads of Child and his touch judges.

Dominating the ruck is called holding down by most teams and they aren't usually allowed to get away with it. It's negative, boring tactics and you're going to get seriously shown up by teams like the wire and wigan and after yesterday I sincerely hope you do.

I'm personally gutted that Paul Wellens missed out on his BAFTA award. He'd earned it, he'd worked for it, and he was conned out of it by Daniel Bloody Day Bloody Lewis.

I mean, I know he's a fantastic actor, and I know he has countless people believing every performance he puts on, and I know he's been at the game for a long long time, however Day Lewis is also very very good at acting.

The most enjoyable thing for you Widnes lot must be the huge improvement defensively, I didn't think you had any problems with ball in hand. I think you will be a dark horse for the playoffs.

But certainly. Personally I'm looking for a playoff push this season. So hoping to be thereabouts and in the mix towards the end of the year. I think reaching the 8 is harder than it seems as Leeds, Saints, Wire, Wigan, Catalan, Hull FC and possibly Hudds have 6/7 of those places almost nailed on at the start of the season. One of the latter may drop out but reality is ATM those below are fighting for the bottom 2 spots in the 8.

11th would be an achievement for Widnes this season, imo Horatio.

Last season was no surprise to anyone except the most optimistic of Chemic fans, i think last season i said on this board that if this was Wire in the same situation it would take at least 3 or seasons to get up to scratch. With the finances you have i do see a steady improvement year on year and personally if i was in the same boat i would see 9th as a massive step.
Next season i would be realistically disappointed with not making the 8 but 9th this season would be a massive step in the right direction.

To put it clear my aims for this year where 10th-12th and next year 8th-10th. Very roughly speaking. Injuries will dictate where we end up... This was pre Hock though so confidence has grown.
