I would love to see the figures to back that up. I would be very surprised if any Championship team is any where near 1M turnover.

And you can include money for charitable trusts to it for franchise purposes, which would prob have put last years figure over 1 mill!

We were only £30,000k short last time and we've had no freebies. Plus the charity funds have gone up and the shop is booming and selling all kinds of merchandise. Everywhere you go in Widnes these days you see branded Vikings merchandise. I think my contribution alone has gone some way to making up the extra £30,000k.

We had offers on for the Toulouse and gateshead games (both 5,000+) and i think we had a free cup game or two as well.

I'd worry about competing against SL sides more than us as it's a no contest tbh!

I've taken some time to try and decide whether what Fax has done was a good or a bad thing. I admit that I did question whether it was all that bad when you consider the 'criteria' that was laid out. Are Fax simply playing the system?
However when you consider the fact that their chairman was the one that first mentioned this 2,500 figure some time ago and that they have done next to nothing, it would seem, to increase crowds then I think it is actually not too far off cheating.
There isn't too much of a pretence on the Fax board that the figure announced was way off the actual attendance. Is this then any less of a rule break than a salary cap infringement? I'm beginning to lean towards the side of it being no different.
Clubs break the salary cap to win an unfair advantage and that is what Fax have done. I did expect the same from Leigh but I have to hand it to them that they played fairly and announced that they were short even though the repercussions of that decision could be large.
The justification for this rule break is being given that Fax wanted to stick two fingers up at the RFL. I think the reality is very different from that and they have played right into their hands.
The RFL are now in a position to trumpet about the good crowds in the championship and swat away complaints of a stagnating competition under franchising.. the blame can be placed firmly at the door of Fax for otherwise achieving poor crowds. Next time around the RFL can place the same minimum criteria down under the 'pretence' that Fax have managed to achieve that figure once and so should be able to achieve it on a regular basis if they tried.

It was the last home game of the Season, It was packed out, Batley Brought way more than normal, Fax gave away tons of tickets at the Agricultural show the day before, everyone was bringing family and friends, Yes, Fax are on a high and this in turn gets the fans following, As a Town, we always come together when the club needs us, thats football included. Sour Grapes Mother Bitches !!!! All i say is go on and prove it. I was there and It was defo more than 3500 more than that i will just have to believe the RFL for their Published Attendace record !!!

The majority of the doubt has come from the reaction of your own fans. I'm not saying that no-one would have bothered had they all come out and said that it was all kosher, but the vast majority didn't. On the thread on your own board there are enough little sarcastic winks and stories of tickets that were handed out and being counted even if the recipient didn't attend the game for there to be suspicion.
Like I said... this is tantamount to pretending you are going to be in a new stadium when you blatantly know you are not. There may well have been more than 3,500 (1,000 up on your normal crowd figures) but the doubt is that there were over 4,700 there and I reiterate that a large amount of doubt has come from your own fans who are happy that the club has 'cheated' the RFL.

I know mate and i agree with you partly.When you see several Fax fans saying this and that about Widnes fans then i get annoyed.

It matters not a jot what anyone thinks they can or cannot prove. The RFL will give a licence to who they want. Remember, there is a club in super league who arent the club that gained the original licence..........

There is a club in the championship who dont need to meet any criteria, just apply!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That should concern us more than fax and batley fans turning out in admirable numbers to celebrate successful seasons. Lets cut them some slack eh?

We are all being lied to and cheated, sadly by the very people that run the sport. Our board has made some howlers this year, granted, and no fax fan is under the illusion we will EVER get into super league, but if this is done, as the VIKINGS fans suggest, to put one up the RFL, then the board deserve a bit of admiration for challenging the system.

I hope the vikings get their deserved licence, that will restore some credibility to our sport, but, they may not and they may have to stay in the championship, with the RFL who knows? Then all clubs will need some solidarity, i guess is what i'm trying to say

Sorry for banging on and i really dont mean to offend anyone, just feel we need to stick together to protect our great game, great clubs and great community. All this crap, created by the top men is slowly eroding all this and leaving a bad taste and it worries me

Meeting? Can you narrow it down a bit, I'd imagine you've had a few this year.

What would be a fair result and one that would give more hope to Champ clubs is that if more than one team went up( and not the Frenchies either) that's just about the only way that Fat Boy et al could gain any credibility from all this.
Bring back P&R, though at Thrum Hall it was up and down like a whores draws for many years, along with Barrow. Widnes have worked hard these last few years and concentrated on the bid at the expense of topping the table, I'm sure this is a frustration to some supporters but hopefully the youth policy will work and mean less Aussie Retirement Plans in the future.
