| I don't think Penny si the right player for us at the moment, even though we've just lent one winger out and lost one to injury.
Pickersgill is only about 16 stone, so doesn't add much extra weight to the pack and, if my memory serves me right, he's a penalty machine.
I can't say I'm overly impressed with these two signings, but we can get rid after a month if they don't work out.
I'm hoping they prove me wrong though, so good luck to them both.

| Penny will get you loads of yards from his kick returns alone! He has got what a lot of teams in this league lack, which is pace and lots of it. Give him the ball and he will score loads for you. His defence is adequate for this league. Gutted that you out bid us for him.

I seem to remember Pickersgill being the one who removed Rob Draper's head for him in a Wire FM game a few years back.
Certainly seemed to have the aggression that day and I was quite surprised when checking, at how long he has been involved in the first team at Warrington.
Certainly not a Fellous type prop but from what I have seen in the past he will certainlly hold his own at this level.
In the 17 ahead of Sam Thompson and it's an improvement, which is all we can keep doing and eventually the results will turn the right way.
Im half expecting Cullen to try and protect Ostick a little more now and use him off the bench with Pickersgill providing a steady platform alongside Gannon.
Penny has always come across as a showboater but even I cant deny that his signing whilst surprising is quite exciting. Despite his defensive frailties being exposed in SL, he's a more exciting and attacking wing option than either Gaskell or Doddy.

| Steps in the right dirtection. Let's just hope we actually get the ball out to Penny. W**e don't appear to rate Pickersgill, but worthy of a chance. Bit of a physco though, will be interesting to see if he is more of a penalty machine than Doran and TKL

| What I don't understand about the Penny signing is why we've not even given Danny Mills a chance to prove himself and sent him out on loan? He came here with good reputation as a pacey winger.
Penny maybe quick but he's suspect under the high ball and frail in defence. Do we really need to take such a gamble?

Yep, he can be a liability if he doesn’t control his aggression. Hopefully he’ll enable us to f*****g muscle up a bit more in defence.

We need two Fellous type props imo. I suppose we can only get what is available though.

Anything that stops the Thompson/Kavanagh partnership is a step forward. We just cave in when those two are on the pitch together.

That’s a good shout. I’d like to see Kavanagh and Ostick playing along side Pickersgill and Gannon as much as possible, rather than together though.

I think Gaskell and Dodd are more than good enough to get us where we need to be in this league, and would be better served along side a good pack. At the moment our wingers only seem to get the ball when they come inside to drive it up the middle. Penny may just end up being an expensive spectator if we don’t start getting the ball out wide and improving out support play.
If we could only get Fletcher and Morrison back in the second row, the pack wouldn’t be looking too bad. If we could bring in a Fellous type prop too, we won’t be far off being a good side imo.

4. tyrer
5. Penny

If the ball gets out to the backs we shold be able to score alot of tries. One of the best back lines in the competition.

| Pickersgill seems to have gotten a reputation for giving away penalties, but I'm usure as to why.
Think one or two people said it and it snowballed.
He will prove to be a good signing for you, loads of effort and can off load if he has support.
He also has a point to prove as his career at Wire has been very stop start.

| Aye looking at that back line, it looks very rosey but we need to ensure we utilise the pace we now have and get the ball out as often as possible. We can score tries for fun, I am confident of that, even with our current crop so this should be an interesting couple of additions.
Having said though, what are the chances we ruin both of their careers and they never see SL again and before you know are playing for Crosfields?

Il be shocked if he returns from his initial month loan spell.
Bit of a non-entity his spell at the club after being given a starting squad number by McCormack.
I know he was one of the part timers but obviously aint fancied by the present regime.

I am still quite hopeful that with the return of the pair of them, Tyrer in the centres and whichever full back can get themselves fit first we can start to put pressure on the sides above us.
It would certainly make for interesting viewing should any of the sides around us start to really suffer injuries to the level that it appears we have already this year.

| how long is gaskell out for. hope one our most consistent performers is not forced out the club. it is good to get fresh faces in, but i would have got a centre instead of a winger. it won't be long before wire fans start calling us wire seconeds.

no he's not..he has good hands something you'd expect of a kid that played a decent amount of basketball
however if you score a wonder try at Saint Helens in the cup on the BBC (its on You tube listen to Jiffy almost say Jesus as he beats gardner gidley and Wellens) but the next time you have the ball you carry it one handed and knock on and Saints score...people will gloat and many many fans did....his poor handling is a myth as is his defence.
he is an exceptional talent and as a Wire fan of 30 years I am a bit miffed at it because it leaves us with some terrible carthorses....
I'd be quite pleased with both acquisitions if I were you lot....
