3 new signings apparently.

Unless we've ripped into the Crusaders squad, I can't think of any new names it could be.

If it's an announcement regarding current squad members then I'm expecting K.Haggerty, Tyrer and maybe Gardener.

Whilst on the subject of Haggerty, where the hell is Gaz? I've heard nothing about him for a while now.

I would be happy with Kurt Haggerty, Danny Hulme and Steve Tyrer being announced tonight.

New ones would probably include Liam Colbon.

Before this year i would have said no, however he's got a lot of talent and has been pretty consistent this year. Worth a 1 year deal IMO.

Yep gotta agree with VM mate. He's impressed me this year. Marked improvement and who knows what he could do with FT training?

Coyle is not super league. No way. I cannot believe it. Haggs is good, Allen, jury s out. But Coyle? We need better.

Quite pleased with that, Dave Allen has had a strange year, excellent at times frustrating at others, the other 2 deserve a crack.

Coyle deserves a shot for his graft this year. Up there for POTY.

Full time will be interesting for them all but I do think it could have a big impact on Tom.

Coyle must be second choice to an established half back.

I must be blind because I just don't see what this lad has. When he plays hooker, my nan could distribute the ball faster and he makes a number of mistakes during games at this level never mind Super League.

Allen was a great player just before he was made captain and I don't think has been quite the same since. I think he has shown some form this year at times and has not been the worst player on the pitch.

I'm hoping that this refocuses him a little and the FT training has an effect as well.
As for Coyle... no arguments from me. Good player this year and I agree that he is in with a shout for POTY.

Coyle will go great with full time training i have no doubt about that, Little Haggs im pleased for the most, got great talent that lad. As for Dave well he's got the talent, perhaps a full time enviroment with tough pro's will bring the best out of him.

I think there is a lot more of this squad still to be signed up.

Betts quote today to the effect of it being pointless signing players who are only slightly better than you have or have targetted makes me wonder.

Are they thinking that rather than throw money elsewhere that they can improve large portions of this squad if it is kept together through coaching in a full time environment and supplemented with good standard professionals.

Really not convinced myself. If anybody i was expecting Varks or maybe Tyrer or Penny, it makes me wonder how many more we will retain. 7 out of the 10 signings we have for next year are on the current 300K salary cap. Albeit they willget pay rises but not by a ridiculous amount. If we are aiming for around 22-25 players then we are going to have to anounce 7/8 established high level players or 2/3 megga signings. To attract new stronghold members we need to anounce new signings to excite people, not retain a crop of the current players from the current squad.

I'm pleased with the Haggerty signing but i am alittle worried for next year. Lets all be honest, 3/4 months ago, people were on here were struggling to name 3/4 players who we would retain in SL, it now looks like we are going to hitting double figures.

But on the other hand we STILL haven't hit the official SL approaching deadline?
Always thought we'd keep a good amount... Availability being the major reason if need be. Plus yes 3/4 months ago not many BUT 5/6 months ago you'd be keeping more after great start?

Sorry J20 i disagree. The jump from this league to SL is so big its undescribable at times. They salary cap is more than 5 times as big, its not as if we've set this league alight. However like you said the official deadline isn't until September, but i would rather sign more SL players up and announce them then than what it seems like signing what we can and announcing it because we can.
