We have got Kids in there.. Ostick, Flynn, Simm played last night Yates has been a regular but is currently injured and Grady has got some more game time this year also. Thompson is still fairly young too but is being thrown in at the deep end.

I thought it was worth the tussle. One on one and Doran was trying to wrench the ball clear. Fair enough they were on the floor but a couple of times last night the elbow of the ball carrying arm did not touch the ground but the tackle was given as 'complete'. Dodd's dragging of Adebisi into touch (Or whatever his name was) was another example.

As for going for the two.. I think it was exactly the right decision. Level the game, get the ball back and take it up the field to try and win it.
It's all very well talking with hindsight, but if we had got the ball back and put the one pointer over and kept them out it would have been a brilliant decision.
As it was we conspired to throw the game away ourselves.

It's not only Doran who is giving away penalties.

'Discipline' is an interesting topic! We, at Leigh, are bottom of the 'Fair Play' League, mainly as a result of penalties conceded. If you get down to LSV on Thursday, buy a programme, (PLEASE!!) and have a look at the feature I've done on penalty stats. I know stats can be misleading, but we have comfortably won our penalty counts at home, (so far) but been hammered on them away - where we have won our only games!!

I wouldn't argue with most of the penalties we have conceded, but I would argue about the ones some of our opponents HAVEN'T conceded. (e.g. both Batley and Doncaster only conceded three each - and they aren't doing too well in the Fair Play League either!)

Also, some refs give penalties against us, for fun, (e.g. Laughton) yet others (e.g Hewer) give very few. That smacks of inconsistency!!

Yes we do need a change, cause I am well and truly fed up. I've run out of my old trademark optimism, I just can't be bothered any more. I think of all the time and effort and money I've put into supporting the club and for what?

It's a big let down year on year. I'm just so fed up with it. Give me a ing reason to continue for god's sake. I just cba getting my hopes up any more. I don't like what the sport has become, and I don't like what the club has become.

But maybe that's just me. I'm getting REALLY apathetic about this.

I think your feelings are shared by quite a few Vikings fans to be fair chris, all the pre-season confidence has been well and truly shot down in flames.

Mate only Widnes could have screwed this season up, before the season started i had high hopes. No Castleford, Hull KR or Salford/Celtic, without showing any disrespect we should have been the dogs b[io[/illocks but now look at us not even in the bloody top three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


It's rather depressive being a Widnes fan at the moment.

Snap - it appears all Widnes fans are in the same boat at the minute. I've been a few away games, but can't be bothered with a lot of them. Going to Leigh on Thursday, but can't say I'm looking forward to it at all. Maybe its just a case of riding it out and seing how we go until the end of the season, but you get the feeling that a lot of fans won't be fans for much longer. As you say, this was Widnes's big opportunity to dominate - 2 of the strongest clubs in the division from last year gone, no SL team coming down and still we haven't beaten anyone in the top 6 yet.

Its a good job the licence system has come really just think what sort of position we would be in if we would have had the same system as previous years:

1 Castleford (would have been relegated from SL)
2 Celtic (wouldn't have gone up)
3 Halifax
4 Barrow
5 Featherstone
6 Whitehaven
7 Leigh
8 Widnes
9 Sheffield
10 Gateshead

We'd have been one place above relegation. Not saying we won't finish above Leigh or Whitehaven, but considering they have both beaten us already this year, we can hardly claim to be better than them.

I've seen some "what if's" in my lifetime but that's a corker


SOC may have spent differently if this scenario had occurred. If it was all on this season then he would have probably invested differently. As it is - he's got three years to get it right.

Hasnt he got one and a half seasons to sort it??. Its very doubtful at this stage that we will make the NRC or grand final this season so that just leaves next season to even be able to apply for a franchise.

Time is running out and fast. It could be 3, 6 or even 12 years before we will see SL rugby again. Make no mistakes Toulouse will be the side awarded a franchise next time around.

We just...don't deserve it. We're one of the oldest ongoing football clubs in the world when you take in the fact that it all started in this country. One of the founding members of the northern union. Out town has given the game some illustrious names and teams. We support the team through thick and thin more than a lot of other clubs would. And what do we fans of widnes get? Let down by the team time after time and dumped on by the powers that be time after time. As I said earlier, what's the point? It's pretty hard to get up for games when you know your players can do a lot better and your club deserves a lot better. It's just not fun is it?

Oh I don't know - Leigh are making a decent fist of doing the same.

How's this for a let down. the only home game I think I can get to (because of the bloody stupid evening kick-offs) was on Good Friday. Me and my tribe get there to watch the worst game of live RL I have wever witnessed. Now that's a let down!

But hey - am working on getting to either the Gateshead or Donny game. It'll only cost me over £200!

No offence but it's that kind of drivel that I'm sick of hearing along with 'Super League - where we belong'. No one belongs there! The team's good enough to compete or it isn't. Back your lads and stop crying. If you don't like it don't go!
